For sale is a 1960 Gretsch 6151 tube amp, made by Valco.
This is a 5w tube amp, somewhat similar to a Tweed champ, with an 8" speaker.
This little amp is very cool sounding, and quite loud for its size.
The amp is in good condition - everything works and sounds good.
A previous owner blew out the speaker at some point and replaced it with a "Realistic" brand speaker. I changed it to an AlNiCo Rola speaker from 1962, which is what's in it now.
Cosmetically the amp is in ok shape, good for its age, but you can see some places where the tolex has torn around corners. I removed a terminal strip the previous owner screwed to the back panel, so there are a couple of small holes there.
Inside the chassis everything looks clean.
Price is $500 OBO and I would currently prefer to deal locally in So-Cal (I live in Escondido, North San Diego County, but occasionally go to shows in Orange County and LA).
