A quick tip of the hat to Roy Carr of the Executives who died 1st July 2018. He became a writer for the New Musical Express in the early 1970s and most certainly made a difference.
The Bass player Glenn Cornick became the founding member of Jethro Tull and later Wild Turkey.
Guitarist Tony Williams went onto Stealers Wheel (Stuck in the middle with you)
The Executives (not to be confused with the Australian band of the same name) were not a particularly well known vocal mod band from Blackpool however they knocked out this instrumental oddity in 1964 and I think it's pretty cool, hope you like too.

Another great tune posted by you, Crumble! Thanks! I'd be interested in hearing their other stuff as I was (and still am) a huge mod fan. I was only familiar with one of their tunes I have on some Freakbeat compilation somewhere. Sadly, though, I sold my Vespa last year (I had had at least one Vespa or Lambretta since the 1980s)
You mentioned an Australian Executives, but there was also an American (soul) Executives:

Gosh, March of the Mods by Joe loss that's a tune permanently etched into my memory. From what little I've read Roy Carr's father Tony worked for Joe Loss and also wrote the song. There is a possibility the Loss band were already on the road with MOTM prior to recording though. Elvis Costello's father also worked with Joe Loss, Just in case you didn't know Elvis Costello isn't very well at the moment.

Brilliant composition. I never cease to be amazed at what can be done in the minor keys. These gents knew their way around minor key chords and handled them skillfully.
I’m alaways amazed by the ideas brought to the table when musicians from various ethnicities play Surf.
