Hello All,
New member here and I like the site and the informative posts!
I have a 1962,(mostly original) NOT a reissue, Jazzmaster that was originally Olympic White. I got it in the Mid-70's from a friend who got it from his cousin who we'd both seen play gigs with it numerous times.
My buddy literally stripped it with a small torch and paint scrapper and removed the headstock decal. It has a GREAT neck and a few years ago I had it refretted(it really needed it) because the first owner played it so much and I had used the neck on a few different bodies over the years.
It's mostly original with a period correct replacement bridge because the original was lost in a move. The wiring deteriorated and was replaced with all white cloth wiring about 14 yrs ago. I'm missing the locking thumb lever for the tremolo but everything else is there. The original hardware was gold plated and some has worn off, the bridge is tarnished chrome. This one has the brass route insert as well.
I'd like to have it restored to original playable condition with the same Olympic White finish but one that looks old but not worn through.
I'm in the DFW, TX area. Anyone know who I can trust to have the work done?
Thanks in advance.

Can't help you with Texas, but I would suggest your friend here would be Dan Erlewine. Some years ago Guitar Player printed an article about a severely molested 60's Jazzmaster that landed in Dan's shop for restoration. Pretty sure this was a class project. Anyway, this poor guitar was very abused. Dan's shop restored it to factory specs and it looked brand new when finished. I used to have a printed copy of the story but I can't find it now.
I suspect if you write to Dan and ask really nice he probably has a copy of the story he can send you. He doesn't work cheap but if your guitar has a special place in your heart Dan can fix it. Good luck!

I've read nothing but good reviews from this guitar shop.
