Regardless of what the text on my enclosure is saying... I do not intend to build a FET Reverb barbecue.

(yes this enclosure was intended to be a "barbecue toolbox".) Laughing

Better safe than sorry.

Luckily I had a used heatsink laying around of a broken KRK sudio monitor. So I cut of about 1/3 and this will be my new surfybear heatsink.

I think this will do. Big Grin

Good evening...or morning on the other side of the big pond.

Is there the possibility to get a good quality file of the logo?
I want to integrate it to my faceplate.

Yes, I can provide a hi res file, but not until next week.
I am in Italy for the Surfer Joe Summer Festival Smile
Possibly somebody else here can share that file...

Thank you for answering.
We will see if someone else can provide it.

Have fun in Italy and hang loose Smile

Not exactly that one, but here's a couple I had lying around:
Sorry I don't have hi-res, but if you print small enough it will be fine...
Björn or Lorenzo, I hope you don't mind me sharing it.

Thank you Ariel!

This will help me out for the design phase.
I will give it a try and see how it comes out.

Hi guys,

I'v ordered SurfyBear KIT and hope to get it a week or so.
In attached video Bjorn shows his unit and it has Volume knob, yet there is no mention of Volume Pot in Kit Userguide, so I'm little confused.
I tried to find something about a Volume pot in this thread but alas.

Is it just Gain adjustment pot (circled red on schematics)? Can somebody enlighten me.

Thanks in advance!

That was an early, special version. There were only a few built of these and all sold on the Surfer Joe sumer festival (iirc)

The kits never had (external) volume or gain control. It might have been that he made the currently internal gain trimpot external on that version.

Thank you!

So now I need to ask Björn if the Volume Pot in this version is indeed just internal gain that he made external.

Yes, thats right.
The kit is based on the Fender 6G15 reverb. Same features!

Björn, thanks for confirming my theory on Volume!

Now I need to decide, If I can benefit from it, or go with classical Dwell\Mix\Tone controls.

Test it with a little screwdriver and see if you like the 'distorted effect'. I didn't really care much for it, but maybe it depends on the pan or the other settings.
If you do, you could perhaps carefully unsolder the trimpot and solder some wires leading to an external pot.

I think there are some more useful mods like the c10 mod, the voice mod, the wet only mod.

The trim pot is not a Volume control.
Its there for making it possible adjust the gain for the transducer driver.
I think the best way to calibrate is to set Dwell snd Tone to 6 and then vary the Mixer from 0 to max. If you find that the overall volume increases you should adjust the trimmer for less gain. This way the Mixer control will work in a natural way.

Reposting for TJ as he put this in the wrong thread...

I have a really tough problem, I thought y'all might shed some light on. I will occasionally lose volume, especially treble while playing. I've ruled out the guitar, cables and pedal board. The amp was just serviced, new tubes, everything's in tight. Sounds amazing with my SurfyBear. I've got a feeling it's the bear that's the issue. I checked the mounting to the inside lid of the metal box, and it seems tight, but not super tight. I was thinking it might be grounding out when at volume or something? Thoughts?

Thanks Danny for reposting.
I assume this is a kit build.
Its difficult to say whats causing this. I recommend you to reflow the soldering joints and check the connectors. Hopefully, that solves the problem.

@Danny
Can you reproduce the problem?
Does it occure after the sury bear is working for a while and heated up? Does the problem occure directly after switching ON the cool surfy bear?
I'm asking for ruling out a thermal problem.

Thanks, Danny!
Elrondo: you have an interesting point here. It's always happened when we've been playing a while. I think the solder joints are about as tight as I could possibly make them.
I'll try to really whip it good for a while and see if it recurrs. One thing I did that stopped it was put the amp on standby and jarred the tank.
Might have just been letting it cool....

Come on guys give me a hand. It's hard for me to describe technical content in english.

@TJ
Is the Pcb mounted to a metal surface to cool it down? Did you use the tape for good cooling?
Maybe you can post a picture of your built.

If it's not a general cooling problem you can try to find the problem with some cool/freeze spray by spraying spot by spot on the Pcb when the problem occurs.
Could be a solder joint, a conductor track or a defective component.

Edit:
Sorry, got a little confused first. Haven't seen Danny only reposted it.
