First up, most important bit: Working with PTFE coated Aerospace wire, a brief review for the guy from a small planet somewhere in the vicinity of Betelgeuse.

I bought PTFE because I'm a novice and couldn't understand the US/EU wire standards, With PTFE one size does everything. I wasn't being critical just interested how you'd work it because it's different to anything I've used before - I genuinely like the stuff. It does have a reluctance to form sharp angled shapes often causing attractive arcs from point to point and all my plier cutters were ineffective. Betelgeuse over and out:)

I've played bass through the brown showman and it sounds great! The 6g14 seems to have less low end as well as a warmness to the highs. The 6g14A sounded great also. The '64 AA763 showman also sounds brilliant for bass. This is a cool build and I bet a lot of people would like it. I will say that a loud drummer demolished the Showmans for bass. I use a 465 watt Mesa tube bass amp now that has enough.

That look sounds mysterious, but I like the intent. I have had two 1964 Showmans and both were the same, and they had pretty gigantic transformers. I must be mistaken and it has to be an AB763, apologies.

The 6g14A is a real Fender, the 6g14 is a Carl's clone. I tried a few cabs, including an Eden 410, and of course a tone ring. The tone ring has a JBL d130F and I wonder if using an Eminence bass 15" woulda sounded better. I tried a 215 w/ JBLs with the 6g14A and 6g14 clone (it has a 4 ohm tap). The AB763 I only tried the tone ring. Everyone sounded absolutely beautiful but not quite loud enough for my kind of band situation. I also found that basically all three liked to be at about 4 o'clock for the best tone.

I'm trying to remind myself that in the original they went through the same hole, and that this is fine. It's fine. It doesn't bother me, it doesn't bother me, it bothers me...

Having the OT primary leads through the same hole doesn't matter. The red wire will be sitting at a 'steady' B+ voltage all the time, and signal in the blue and brown wires will be in equal opposing phase and voltage.

He who dies with the most tubes... wins
