Terrible news, deepest condolences to all. R.I.P. Dano, the Dynotones made some great music and you will be missed by anyone who heard you play.

What sad news! I was lucky to see the Dynotones play at the Mooneyes xmas party on a few occasions plus I met Dano twice. Once at the Catalina Grand Prix and then this year at the "Midsonian" Vintage Dirt Bike party in Riverside. Truly a very nice guy. I'm really glad I went to the Surfguitar 101 convention where I saw the him play for one of the last times. I feel lucky to have met him and had the chance to hear him play.
RIP Dano you will be missed.

Oh wow, awful news. So glad I got to see them at SG101, they've always been a favorite of mine and they completely lived up to my expectations seeing them live.

Here's the text from Jeff's Facebook post:

I got the very sad news on Christmas Morning from
a phone call by Tim Fitzpatrick drummer of the Lively Ones/Dynotones that Dano Nichols (guitarist and founder of The Dynotones) had passed away on Christmas Eve.
I'm not sure of the details, but Tim said that Dano's girlfriend had called the paramedics, by the time they got him to the Hospital he had passed. This is very sad news, Dano was such a nice great person. And I had the pleasure of meeting up with him a few times for breakfast
At the Olde Ship in Santa Ana for good long personal chats. I'm also sad to not be seeing him play. I had the pleasure of also seeing the Dynotones probably more than any other fan. From their first gig to almost the last,
At the SG101 convention aug 2017, Sadly I missed their last gig at Mooneyes Xmas party as I had to work.
Dano will be missed, a True Hot Rodder. My condolences to his Familiy, his Girlfriend Denise, and his bandmates
Tim Fitzpatrick, Robert Kruse and Dan Moses.
R.I.P. Dano, fist raised, say Hi to Baja Marty for me.

Very sad news indeed, much too young to leave this world.

Every time I saw and chatted with Dano, he was always super nice. He and his band mates played with energy and conviction.

Sincerest condolences to his family, his friends, and the fans that knew him.
