So what note does the verse of this song start on? I think it's the 'G' string,,, tenth fret 'E' note. But my ears are not as clear as they used to be.
What say you?

Yeah, that's what I hear.

I ve always loved that bit of feedback in the middle 8

I can hear it now that you mention it. But to tell the truth, this whole YouTube presentation of the song is reeking with noise and distortion of various kinds.
I have a version that I purchased from iTunes. It is clearer in sound, but not a whole lot. That is why I posed the original question.

Joelman,
I always liked this tune .. sort of like "Pipeline" 2.0. I never learned it over the years so I took a crack at it yesterday.
It is the 'G' String but it starts at the 9th fret "E' not the tenth fret ("F").
My best guess so far -
The chords are like Pipeline - Em -Am (4 beats each) then D-C-Em
The chorus is a repeat of G-Em (8 beats each) The melody notes on the chorus are fairly simple to get by ear.
Hope this rough road map helps.
Thanks for your thread question that got a fire lit under me to finally figure this tune out - somewhat.
Hope this helps..

Duh...
Yep you are correct. It is a 9 fret, not the tenth. I guess my ears aren't the only thing going bad these days.

ROTFL ROTFL
Thanks for the chord tips. I have the song figured out, but wasn't sure if the first note was on the ' G ' string or perhaps just an open 'E' . With all the racket going on it was hard for me to tell.
Thanks for the reply.

Joelman,
Maybe make that "Em-Am (4 beats each)" over to:
Em(4beats)- Am(3beats)- Bm(1 beat) - might sound better
