Thanks for sharing that Carol! I see the double CD is on Amazon, 26 tracks. Fun stuff. —Wes DISCLAIMER: The above is opinion/suggestion only & should not be used for mission planning/navigation, tweaking of instruments, beverage selection, or wardrobe choices. |

Nice find. Were they from the UK? —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

Yes, a top UK instrumental group. Great singles (check out The Storm) but their record company dictated some lousy titles for their two LPs. They backed Cliff Richard at the London Palladium when The Shadows were in America, guitarist Brian Parker went on to work with hitmakers Unit Four Plus Two while drummer Norman Sheffield set up London's Trident Studios and became Queen's first manager. |

One of my very favorite '60s UK instrumental bands! As Alan points out above, "The Storm" is particularly amazing! Their lead guitarist Brian Parker was one of the first UK guitarists (along with Big Jim Sullivan of the Krew Kats, the band that also featured Brian Bennett on drums and Licorice Locking on bass, both of whom would join the Shadows by '61/'62) to use the DeArmond 610 Volume/Tone pedal. Hank adopted this pedal in '65, and it became a HUGE part of his evolving style and sound all the way through the early '70s when it died on him and he couldn't get a replacement. (He used a simple volume pedal after that, through today.) —Ivan |

looking at Wikipedia Golden Earring (the Dutch rock band) took their name from this single. Norman Stracey Rhythm Guitar and songwriter is the only surviving band member. If he hasn't been interviewed then someone better get their skates on! Last edited: Jan 12, 2018 07:19:41 |

The Storm was also covered by the Sputniks (the German band, not the Spotnicks from Sweden). —The Exotic Guitar of Kahuna Kawentzmann You can get the boy out of the Keynes era, but you can’t get the Keynes era out of the boy. Last edited: Jan 12, 2018 16:24:31 |
