I was daydreaming Santa might bring me one of Ola Englund's new range of SOLAR guitars. Failing this I'd be happy with a solar powered dancing hula girl.

Not really a Christmas List item, but I’m holding my breath until February, waiting for a new Gretsch Tennessee Rose. I’m one of those rare Surfers that insists on a hollow-body axe and Gretsch is my instrument of choice. Slap some TV Jones pickups in it and away we go.

Me too sir! Love my gretsch jet firebird with T Armonds for surf. And it’s more hollow brethren.

I got so wrapped up in my website being offline that I never even read this post.

I had a G6128TCG some years ago and it was great at Surf music. I can only imagine that T Armonds are even better. Gretsch guitars are sort of a strange little niche. I use them for pretty much everything, but they seem to excel at three things, 1) Chet, 2) Early Rock N’ Roll, 3) Surf. This works perfectly for my tastes and I can even get a nice Jazz sound out of them. Actually, I think that the Supertron is a better Jazz pickup than just about anything else I can think of. It’s got nearly the “body” of a P-90 with the added benefit of being humbucking.

Besides all of that good stuff, a Bigsby seems to work well for Surf. I use a Chet arm on mine, which makes it as easy to grip as a Fender vibrato arm.
