Help needed with wiring for a Jaguar Rhythm circuit mod.

Hi guys.

I'm looking to modify the Rhythm circuit of my Jaguar so once engaged it puts both pickups in parallel and the roller pots control individual volumes for the Bridge and Neck pickup.

Has anyone tried this? Or know of a wiring diagram for it?

I'm am 100% not a wiring expert. But I'm not sure how what you describe will work. I can see it working if the two rollers are "always on" volume control for both pickups.

I do the series thing as well, but I use a 4-way blade in my Jags. I place the hi-pass filter up in the rhythm circuit and ditch the rhythm circuit altogether.

Hi, love the lead circuit, just never had a use for the rhythm circuit. With the mod instead of having just the Neck pickup with volume and tone I would have the ability to blend both Bridge and Neck pickups with independent volume controls.

Cheers for the info. Its a parallel blend rather than series that I'm after.

Oh, I gotcha. I always get series/parallel mixed up.

This should be much easier than I previously thought. I've done some really funky wiring to some of my Jags, I was completely not paying attention and thinking about other things.

Alternatively... It should be possible to make the blend with only one roller. Similar to how a Rickenbacker works, or even a Jazz Bass. That would give you a roller and that on/off switch back to do other things with. I would 100% recommend Series wiring in addition to the parallel on a Jag, I just absolutely love it.

I'm completely snowed under at the moment, but give me a few days and I will try to draw you a schematic and/or wiring diagram. I'm no specialist but I think I can do it.

Okay, I've just spent a few hours thinking and doodling, and unfortunately I hit a snag I hadn't anticipated.

I came up with a way to achieve what you described (replace rhythm circuit tone & volume controls with an individual volume for each pickup, leaving the lead circuit as is). But then I realized that in my circuit both sets of controls would be loading down the output at all times, even when not engaged; I don't know to what extent this would affect the overall tone of the guitar.

Here's the wiring diagram:

There is a possible fix: you'd have to use a 3PDT switch for the rhythm circuit instead of the stock DPDT. That would make it possible to totally isolate whichever circuit (rhythm or lead) is not selected. As far as I know that's what the rhythm circuit switch does in a stock Jag, but to be able to have separate volume controls for each pickup you'd need one more set of terminals (i.e. a 3PDT). The thing is, I don't know if 3PDT sliders are available in the exact same size as Jag switches. A 3PDT mini toggle switch would fit through the slider hole in the upper control plate, but the cavity might require widening, and the toggle lever might get in the way of your playing.

Hi...i am a new user here. In my case same modification on my Epiphone Slash LP plus a couple of cheapie P Bass guitars and they now all enjoy the benefit of this inexpensive modification that dramatically improves the overall sound and tone form each of these instruments.
