The Anonymous Henchmen! Smile

Deathwave by The Halibuts. One of hundreds through the day going through the new (to me) little Advents. OMG, how nice to have a classic acoustic suspension pair coming out of the Marantz rather than the bass-heavy far-field Polk's. (The little Polks are very nice speakers but, as with many ported things these days, more oriented to home theater & blasting across a big carpeted living room.)

Livin' large, Surf's Up! Cool

I wanted to listen to the new Out of Limits release, but Windows Media Player won't open the file. I think the title might be too long. Have to wait for the CD in the mail. Went with the new Anonymous Henchmen and The Me Gustas.

Is this coincidence? In my hi-fi I have both Marantz Imperial 5G speakers and little PolkAudio speakers. It sounds best (and terrific) with both speakers on. Polks have the clarity and high frequency dispersion, Marantz have the lows. No subwoofer needed. I bought the Marantz in the late 1960s and the Polk a few years ago.

Hah, that's funny. A roommate in the Army had a set of Marantz Speakers companion to his 2270 (we each had one) - great speakers. Funny how different combinations handle different tasks or different rooms. He'd initially got a set of JBL 4311's but it was too much of a good thing for a small barracks room. Anyway, one thing I enjoy now is surf played through this late 60's/early 70's equipment because a few folks (Marantz, Sansui, et al) were really doin' it right; tube warmth without tubes. And back then most people would've said "sub-woofer? WTH is a sub-woofer & why do I need it?" Laughing

So, wake-up call, coffee, time for The Fathoms' "Fathomless" Cool

My Surge! care package, thanks to Mr. Katcher. Smile

Beck Bogart and Appice Live 1973. When the whole world was a jam band and we were all busy getting, getting.....
Puke

It's ol Jeffy in top form but it's also hilarious as they recorded in Japan and there is very little audience response. It's really good when whoever is singing tries to get the crowd to spell out the word 'boogie' and for every GIMMIE A B! GIMMIE A O! there is dead silence from the crowd.

Group Sounds crowds are the toughest to get used to.

Wow! I haven't heard that one in at least 25 years, maybe 30!
Fun, creative music. Sometimes I pull an old Max Webster song out of my dusty brain for soundchecks up in your beautiful country. It amuses the crew that I know the music and amuses me that I still remember how to play any of it.

Yesterday is was the John Mayall "Beano" re-mastered CD followed by a copy of the original vinyl LP for comparison

Right now I'm listening to the sounds coming out of my Martin and feeling quite fortunate to own such a great instrument.

and then I'll get back to Surf/Instro
