I use the Apogee JAM with my iPad and Macbook. Cheers, http://www.facebook.com/CrazyAcesMusic |

If you are using this at home only, I would suggest this: It is one of the best things I've ever bought, music-related. It doesn't come with software so you need a program with modeling or recording built-in. I use this as a pre-amp for all of my music listening as well, it sounds really great. |

I have a JAM. It's the version that is compatible with both PC and MAC. I use mine with a MAC MINI. |

Thanks guys. I got a new iMac and it doesn't have a dedicated mic in slot. So now I'm looking for a new input device. |

In that case, I am going to argue in favor of the Focusrite Scarlett. The Scarlett can also act as a pre-amp for monitors so you don't have to use your iMac speakers to play back sound or do amp modeling from. Shows peaking onboard, allows you to adjust the volume in several places, phantom power. Now, if you are using it only to input a Mic for something like Skype/Facetime/recording podcasts, then you don't need the Scarlett. But I would recommend it if you are going to use amp modelling or do any recording. |

This is really good advice. The Scarlett will give you many more options for relatively little more investment. Cheers, http://www.facebook.com/CrazyAcesMusic |

I use the Apogee Jam 96k for iOS based practicing/recording and absolutely love it. Plus is comes with plenty of cables for plugging it into phones or laptops |
