Bump for this coming Sunday. Hopefully, y'all have your reservations made by now.

Word has it, all seats are spoken for,
But they are taking names for a back up list, if someone
Cancels.

Urgent Update regarding Paul Johnson show this weekend!

With regards to the show at Alva’s Showroom on May 7th. Paul Johnson has some health issues and probably won’t be able to attend the performance. The full History of the South Bay Surf Sound will have to be postponed to another date when Paul is healthy. The show will go on with the Belairs & Eddie & The Showman tribute performances with John Blair and Matt Quilter at the helm. The Halibuts will still be performing a set for the first time in 12 years. The show will go on! Any donations to Paul and his recovery can done at the show. The show was sold out as of last week but call for reservations (310 519 1314) to be sure.

Heads up people,
If you don't have seats reserved,
I would not go there expecting to get in.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

And just to further clarify...the show will go on no matter what!

PJ likely will not be in attendance, but there will still be the highly anticipated reunion performance by The Halibuts, and an extended South Bay themed set by those in the tribute band (John Blair, Matt Quilter, Keven Brennan, Pete Curry and me).

It will still be a wonderful opportunity to salute and appreciate PJ!

What Jonpaul said above. This event is tomorrow and I hope those of you who planned on coming will still be there despite the unfortunate announcement that Paul Johnson may not attend due to health issues (and the possibility of rain). He MIGHT still be there; we aren't sure as of Saturday morning.

Regardless, this event intends to celebrate the South Bay surf music scene of 1961-1963 with special tributes to The Belairs and Eddie & The Showmen in particular. There WILL be some special guests AND the very, very special reunion performance of The Halibuts.

Downbeat at 4pm.

It was amazing! Such a great show and everyone was wonderful!
Sorry I didn't get to catch up with everyone but I was overbooked that day and had to run right after it was over. add, I teared up many times during the guys doing Pauls stuff and especially during the Halibuts. Took me back to a really stressfull time in my life when surfing and The Halibuts brought me through (Mid 80's) . GREAT JOB!

It was a great day, only a light drizzle of rain.
The place was packed. Of course we were sad that PJ was not there.
But the Belairs, and Eddie and the Showman tribute was awesome.
The Halibuts were great fun, and I was stoked to see all 6.
As I had heard a rumor of only 4 would be there(no sax no keys)
The one down side was the Farfisa organ was acting up, and could barely be heard. The Showman amp it was plugged into was on 10. It was a little strange to see the Halibuts play, and not have a room full of dancing people, but about 6 people jumped up n danced for the last Song.
I saw lots of people from the 90s n early 2000s that I had not seen in a long time. I hear they want to try to do it again in the Fall so PJ can play.

The Venue does not permit recording or photography during their shows,
But they can't stop a room full of people taking cel phone pics.

What great pictures, especially seeing The Halibuts all decked out.
Lots of potentially great POTD stuff to load in the progression; really like the one with them all gathered around the kit - looks fun had by all from both sides of the stage.
Cool

Edit: I just stuck a bunch of Halibuts on loop 'cause they make me smile. Fun to contrast this pic
