Permalink Review of Mr. Dick Dale in Dallas - Saturday, April 8th

New Topic

I was fortunate enough to purchase front row seats one day prior to this show. Somehow, I missed the fact he was performing in Dallas, Texas until one of my Facebook friends asked if I was going. I immediately made plans to travel 300 miles round trip and book an overnight room.

Mr. Dale was remarkable. His wife Lana,as always, was off to stage left recording him and helping him "remember" his stories. It was a great crowd and very appreciative of everything he offered. From his singing, trumpet playing, drumming, harmonica wailing...all of it was magnificent. His backup band was tight, tight, tight. Every note, every cymbal, and every beat was flawless.

I saw him last year. This year he seemed even better and more focused.
Mr. Dale received a standing ovation, right up until the curtain closed. He will be 80 years old on May 4th. Live video of "Nitro" (taken by another member of SG101), is below.

He's pacing the energizer bunny. Smile

Great review! Was Sam Bolle backing him up on bass?
