Permalink Availability of shell pink jazzmasters

New Topic

My daughter will be graduating high school soon and has added a shell pink Jazzmaster to her GAS list.

I haven't kept up with the options over the years and I know these never appeared in the Squier line. Vintage is out of the question, but gently used may be viable. So what is the consideration from Fender in the recent years?

One viable option may be buying a Squier VM Jassmaster and moving everything to a shell pink body.

Just collecting info at this point.

Never seen one myself. Hey bud, I know you!

There was a limited edition Classic player jazzmaster in shell pink, in 2013 I think. Fender FSR Classic Player Jazzmaster (Shell Pink). Might be hard to find now.

Ok thanks for that info. I may be able to find a body that someone sprayed or warmoth as someone at another forum pointed out.

Maybe we'll spray one ourselves. We'll see.

First, ccongrats to your daughter & that you're fortunate to have someone that has a JM as a "shiny object" on their wish list - very cool.
That pic above is really gorgeous.

There are a couple on Reverb, but they're more than new.

Neptune Trojans

I don't see any for sale right now, but the Classic Player and the Thin Skin are the only two Shell Pink Jazzmasters.

I think the Squier VM + shell pink body is a good idea. I would recommend MJT, they are the cheapest but also they do a good job.

But... If I may...

MJT Body $350
Musikraft Neck - $180
AVRI Pickups - $80
Vibrato - $50
Bridge $25
Tuners - $35
Pickguard, knobs, wiring, etc... - Another $80 or so

That gets you better quality than Fender Classic Player, quite a bit better quality to be honest.

Lots more than a Squier, but not much more than a Squier + shell pink body. You could also strip and spray the Squier body if you are so inclined, that would actually be a great idea. You could do a matching headstock as well. And honestly, if you are so able and inclined, if you buy just the wood and paint it for her and build it yourself, she will never part with it.

Thank you all for the tips and pricing and etc... We'll see how it all plays out.

Fender sent out an email the other day, stating that for a limited time, Shell Pink Jazzmasters (from the Professional Series line) will be available from their Mod Shop.

-Cheers, Clark-

-Less Paul, more Reverb-

We have Bob Kennedy on this list and he built/painted me a Shell Pink Stratocaster. Why not use someone on this list and help your daughter get a kick-ass Jazzmaster for a VERY reasonable price? Jake has listed a parts guitar that can be built reasonably, but I've always found the costs are often more than I expected when I've built guitars. Bob can do the entire thing himself and it's SPOT ON. I love my Pink Strat, but I'd LOVE a pink Jazzmaster, too.

Check him out!!! He makes his own bodies and necks and also paints things himself. He does a bang-up job!

I'll direct him to this thread.

This may be too far off course but Rustoleum has a pretty neat metallic pink paint color out right now that might qualify as the cheapest approximate solution to this caper.

Ugh, sorry. I didn't notice. There's no bad time for a good plug, though Smile
