The principles I used were: 1 Three mics, three separate channels 2 Overhead mics about 40" above center of kit 3 Business ends of overhead mics essentially touching and at 90 degrees to each other 4 Kick drum mic sitting in the sound port I think the drums came out pretty darn tootin' in our demos.
