It really sounds amazing! Just like I hope it would, somewhere between my Guild and Gretsch and with the middle pickup it has the typical Tele twang!

Oh, that's just great Arny!... Now you got me wanting a Tele! Whack

I'm in advertising...

"...Have TELE, will TWANG..."

Here is mine.A cheap but very good tele copy. It's a Jack and Danny and i got it for 115 euros plus a bigsby style vibrato for 25 euros...

I use it for surf..It is not a Jaguar but it has another kind of surf tone and sound that I like a lot.

It twangs, zings, yowls and ploinks, but I wouldn't call it surf.

Squink Out!

Then, obviously, you need more reverb and less cow-bell (wink, wink)!

Coming to a stage near...me...soon.

After some minor surgery...which won't include a wiggle stick right away.

Just in case you might want to keep it all-Fender, here's how I installed a Fender Jazzmaster 'wiggle-stick' on my Tele:

My telemaster was set up like that, but that hunk of green junk isn't a true born to begin with.

If anything, it'll get a bigsby of some sort down the line.

Oh yes..Tele can surf good!

I just a Tele for myself and may be using it on a show here in Nashville on June 23rd with our friends The Mystery Men?.
You bet it will Surf.
Every time I build myself a guitar to keep I end up selling it. Not because of some kind of short attention span guitar affliction but because I build them for a living and and if someone wants to buy my guitar well....
This time though, this one's staying.

Cheers,
Jeff

Fantastic!
It will be great to meet in person.
We will be playing at The Family Wash on Main Street in Nashville.
So stoked to have the MM? up here again to play!

Cheers,
Jeff

So... just my opinion, but I've always thought that teles are about the most versatile electric guitars out there. They definitely can surf! I've always felt that rigs work holistically. Guitar - amp - pedals or outboard gear (if any.) And most importantly... the player! As guitar players who are committed to a pretty focused style of music, I think we can all fall into the trap of listening with our eyes! All that really matters is whether the player is able to say what they wants to say through his or her instrument. I use about the most non-trad set up ever & am always jazzed by the tone!

One last thought... Dick Dale doesn't use a whammy!

Here is my favorite "play it everyday- every gig" guitar. Not a tele, but definitely tele-esque.

There are some awesome guitars on this thread. I just added a Tele to my collection. It has a 7.25 radius on the neck and I installed the Bigsby. At first, I didn't like how it sounded compared to my other guitars but after playing it for a while I have to say I am a convert. Now, all I need to do is keep that appointment down at the crossroads and cut a deal so I can master these babies!

I'm so stoked to hear it, Jeff!! We're so excited about getting up there again!

Pix Jeff, pix!

I slapped together another partscaster too, that's blown everything wide open.
I'll keep the green one for the nebs, and the blue one (my first) to give to my daughter, but this is foreseeably the only electric I need. I don't much care for a relic, but I had to have that body for the price.

Ha, I just stepped out of the spray booth, finishing some last coats.
I had it together to test, review the neck shape but just dis-assmebled it this afternoon to spray a few more coats.
If you don't like relics you won't like mine.
It will look like an old, '70s, amateur refin that has since been played hard.
Think Springsteen...
I like old looking things and the "artwork" is fun.
When it's done poorly though.....yuck, run!

Jamie,
It will be the highlight of my summer, no kidding!
Can't wait to see everyone and hear/watch you guys play again.

Cheers,
Jeff

That's to say, I wouldn't go out of my way to source a relic. I happen to own two, because sometimes that's just what happens. I'm not gonna pass up a deal on a fine instrument just because somebody beat it up.

I've yet to own a blackguard. It's on my list of things I think I'd enjoy, but that thinline is just sick. I look forward to growing old with it.
