Permalink Day trip to hear a band!

New Topic

I had a little day trip yesterday to hear a band. 625 miles round trip. I went to meet, see and hear the Royal Aces. I also wanted to take a pic of the woody with my deuce. Mission accomplished on all accounts. It was great to meet the guys, see the woody and hear the music. Smile

Thanks for coming, and for the post! Along with surf classics, we always work in instro versions of familiar rockers like good old Born On The Bayou. For fellow gear lovers, I'm playing through a Quilter Micro Pro and a Weber California 15", using the Micro Pro's built-in reverb.

It would have been a 2400 mile round trip for me, so unfortunately I didn't make it. No Would have liked to though, not only to see the performance but also to check out that Ford woodie!

Good job on "Born On The Bayou' guys. Can't go wrong with almost any CCR song. I was stationed at Lowry AFB in the late 60's. Is the base still an active military base?

Sounds like a GREAT trip! Dig both cars. Thanks for the cool pics!
Cool

(For Rob, Lowry AFB had its last active AF function moved in 2011 and it's been closed for awhile. My Dad spent some time in '43 there in his B-29 as they did crew quals before heading off to India & the Pacific.)

Badger is correct - it's now mainly businesses (like the Beer Garden),offices, etc.

"Lowry AFB had its last active AF function moved in 2011 and it's been closed for awhile"

I kind of suspected that to be the case. We had two active Air Force bases here in Sacramento in the past but both have long been closed and also now host private businesses.
