Permalink Surf oriented Strymon Flint Demo

New Topic
Goto Page: 1 2 3 Next

I recently made this demo of the Strymon Flint, and of course i had to test its drip.

Did you go direct on this?

No, I ran into a Princeton reverb ri, I had some kind of dirt pedal in front of it, a dod 250 or a klone, I can't remember right now.

Very nice sounding pedal, especially and the end.

Thanks.

Great demo, makes me almost wish I didn't sell mine!

Thanks for the demo. Nice sounds, but not drippy enough for me. I liked that plate verb though.

Yeah, theres a little bit of a drip but you have to have it set up just right, If it wasn't for that issue id own one for sure.

after watching this demo I just... got it!
the hell of a pedal! reverb side is nice, drippy enough as for me in 60s and I love 70s plate for some stuff
tremolo side - never came across such a beautiful tremolo effects! nice thing is that they made it highly usable, sounds nice just in any knob positions, love it

That's a great sounding pedal and actually a good deal because you are getting both a primo reverb and trem. IMO, the reverb sounds like a really good Fender Blackface in amp reverb...maybe better especially with the additional plate settings, ect. The trem is off the hook good and all in one convenient package. If you have an amp that doesn't have built in reverb and trem or an amp that has crappy verb/trem you can't go wrong. If you are looking for hardcore drippy surf reverb a good outboard tank is the way to go, especially if you primarily do surf but Strymon can get in the ballpark for a couple numbers.
Regarding the El Capistan, it's a really primo all around delay pedal that can pretty much do any kind of delay including vintage tube/tape delay but for just pure vintage Echoplex tones I like my Catalinbread Belle Epoche which really nails the vintage echoplex tone, including the mild overdrive properties the originals had. All great stuff no matter how you look at it.

I use my strymon flint reverb in combination with my tank. I use my tank for moderate reverb full time, and the parts that need extra drip I use the Flint set almost full on color and mix and very little decay. I promise you nobody will know that it's not a reverb tank giving the drip.

I also tried it with my Fender Blues Junior with MOD reverb unit for extra drip, sounds nice!

I've been using this one for a couple years and I don't see myself building a pedal board without one in the future. I prefer the tremolo on the Flint because of the tap temp function. I highly recommend getting the tap pedal add on.

Nothing to say about the Flint, but did want to say I LOVE THIS PHOTO! Smile (If you get aged white knobs for the Strat, then the two will REALLY match! Big Grin )

Strymon is a top notch company and when my El Cap was blasted with 115V they rebuilt the entire thing for 80 dollars plus shipping. Any other pedal would have been thrown away. I have the surfy trem but not opposed to owning this in the future.

I’m kind of gassing for this.
I already have 2 reverb units and 4 trem pedals, but I still want it.

Masterful demo, Ryan, as usual!
No one else is even looking for a drip to start with...
Seems by sound alone they indeed intended to replicate an amp's reverb, as opposed to the '63 unit. Great range of sounds though.

If it's gonna replace the ones you use for live performance, seems like a nice sounding all-in-one light solution. I'd still go with a Surfy Bear + Surfy Trem combo, just cuz...

I have both surfy units. They are not combo’d. Although they should be, I guess.
