I just buttoned up the formerly pink 61 Jazzmaster that I refinished. It came out great!
Mixed up some Olympic white & sprayed the front....
Now the back....
The clear coat flowed out so well that I was able to go right to 1500 grit for wetsanding....
The client wanted a tort p/g instead of the black, so I cut one....
Mock up before polishing & relicing....
Starting to look proper now....
The finished product.....
Slight relic treatment on this one. Kinda "closet classic"....
Of course, we had to try it out during band practice today.....
It turned out great! It feels better too without the thick, plastic-like poly coating.

An OW Jazzy is high on my GAS list. Very nice work! I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

The binding is a combination of a aluminium strip used for stairs we found at the local hardware store and a vintage vinyl strip we got at a place where they restore old trucks. It's not the same as the original but from a few feet you couldn't tell the difference. The guy that helped us at the garage advised us to heat up the aluminium before bending it around the mould. We should have known that before we started...

Spitfire has those really nice looking guards, but the prices are ridiculous IMO and some folks did not like what they got.

this ones is a spitfire tort ,pricey but half of a vintage and you can choose your pattern (there 's some vintage relics at this time that i look at really often ,but hopfully i haven't a jazzy to put one immediatly  )
or WD have some nice red tort , i think the 05 celluloid red but less nice than vintage and spitfire ,
mine is a used one cost me 90 €,more cheap but expensive also
but in france we says when you love you don't count !!!
before i have it,i have also says it very pricey but when you have in real it is really cool and you don't regret (more than 3 years i want one and the guys who buy it new sale it fews month before but i wasn't fast enought to buy it ,but when it reappers for sale i have it
it is only the price of 2 fender tort guard new and half of a vintage one
in europe the price is ridiculous cause of shipping + taxes but in us it is more cheap

Thanks for the info. I looked into Spitfire, but he doesn't sell sheet stock & a new guard at that price just wasn't in the budget for this project. I would definitely like to try one on a future build though. Regardless, I'm very happy with how it turned out.

How is progress on the Surfy Bear Magnatone Vibrato coming? I haven't heard anything lately. Did you get hold of a Magnatone amp to do comparisons with?

No, not yet. I think it will be difficult to find a Magnatone amp here in Stockholm.
Right now I have to focus on the stuff I will showcase at the Reverb seminar at Surfer Joes in June. But I plan to continue the experiments with the Magnatone vibrato!

You deserve the Reverb Industry Innovator's Prize for the FET Reverb. Wow 'em at the Reverb Seminar. Transcripts will be available, I presume?

In the '60s we had a band sign with moving lights inside it that declared, "The Esquires Drink Carling Black Label Beer"......embarrassing. One of the guys had it made from a sign out of a package store. Funny, we were all too young to buy beer at that point.
I wonder where that damn sign is.

Earlier this week, I plopped a NOS 1" gold bigsby spring into my ES-355... holy goodness...
The arm sits much higher now, which was the goal. And the tension now... I know it should have caused more tension, but this is amazing now. Feels like a vintage Jag vibrato. Just perfect!
The original spring was about 3/4"s, it should have been 7/16th"s when it came from the factory. Time did its thing.
