Playing bass with El Capitan & The Band With No Name. Had a solid practice last night, and looking forward to adding a little spaghetti dust and atmosphere to the evening!
Really looking forward to this!

Yeah Man!
Looking forward to seeing and hearing everyone.
One of our rehearsals was canceled last night due to our ice storm.
Bummer. We need to rehearse!
Cheers,
Jeff

I, too, am sorry I'll miss the chance to meet you. I'll be back up that way soon I hope. I definitely want to check out a Mystery Men show this year! I'm also kicking around the prospects of making the Instro Summit.

We'd certainly love to have you! Keep an eye out, we play fairly often. If you can make Instro Summit, you REALLY should! It's a marvelous time every year! I only missed the first one and that was because my sister was getting married that day (and believe me... it was a tough choice!! haha)

Major kudos to Chad--truly one of the hardest working men in Surf, for putting on these shows, doing the podcast and helping to keep the scene alive and thriving! I know it can be a thankless job sometimes...so, THANK YOU!!!!

Well, last night's Stomp at Kavarna was a killer show with another great lineup. Jamie from the Mystery Men? did a masterful job on bass with El Capitan and The Band With No Name. Lots of well-played Morricone-influenced material in their VERY lively set. Flat Cat, fronted by a very cute, petite young lady with a BIG voice, performed a fun vocal set, reminiscent of early Joan Jett back when she was in her punk-y mode. And then..The Crazy Aces. HOLY CRAP, what an amazing set Jeff and Co. performed. As usual when experiencing this band, I was totally and completely blown away. They make me want to give up guitar and take up bird watching. They are THAT good and on top of their musicianship, they display the best stage presence I've ever witnessed from an instrumental band, LSJ included.
All in all a stellar evening of great music and congrats to Chad for organizing another great show.
The highlight of the evening for me was after Chad sat in with The Crazy Aces on "Stomp" a song written by Jeff Senn as a tribute to the Southern Surf Stomp, Jeff presented Chad with his very own Teisco guitar, and it is a beauty. Chad immediately took off his Strat and rocked out on another song with the Aces with his new acquisition.
And, oh yes, Kavarna was PACKED. It's fortunate that the Fire Marshal didn't show up.
In closing, all I can say about this event is...California, this is how we do it Down South in 2015!

Even though I arrived a bit midway into the evening (couldn't miss Supercross 1 at the Georgia Dome), I was there to catch a good bit of the second group and all of the Crazy Aces set. I did hate missing James and crew opening the show but I have to scratch my moto-cross itch. Everything was, as Woody described (and then some......) another packed house at Karvarna!
Which brings up the question: Are we embarking on a new rising tide of Surf and Instro? Great banter on 101, a great annual convention for 101-ers, Crispy's stellar annual East Coast Instro Summit and now Chad's really amazing monthly Surf Stomps here in Atlanta at Karvarna. I sure hope so.
It was great to hang with the Atlanta's super surf family at Kavarna and especially neat to met up with Design Spy who made the trek from North Augusta, SC. Hope both he and the the CA's all made it home without any altercations.
Damn, what a great evening!
Respectfully submitted ( )

Wow!!! That is SO FREAKIN' COOL!!!! Well done, Jeff, and congratulations, Chad! None more deserving of a gift like that! Jeff, that was a truly nice thing to do - you rule!
Sounds like an amazing time was had by all - way to go, Chad! And congratulations to the entire Southern Surf Stomp community for making these shows such a huge success!

That's 3 primary points of the CONUS compass - this is a cool trend!

WOW!
That's about the best I can say at the moment in my grog from the drive home but WOW!
Mr. Shivers has outdone himself yet again with a fantastic line up last night and a room full of people ready to hear some music and have a great time.
James and gang in El Capitan and The Band With No Name kicked the evening in the ass with their absolutely fantastic Spaghetti Western meets Link Wray sounds........incredible! Buy the record! Now!
Flat Cat - took me back to the Runaways days in grand style with Amy Arnold's killer vocals. I loved it.
We debuted our new song "Stomp It", written in tribute to the show and Chad for all that he and the Stomp provide us with as performers and fans.
Chad joined us onstage for the first live performance of the song and just as he did on the recording he knocked it way the hell out of the park.
Mucho Respect Amigo!
And then there was Sonny Harding from Moonbase who played drums for us last night...........Outstanding job, really did his homework and then brought in his own stylings and energy that forced us to rise to his backbeat. Thank You Sonny.
It was like coming home since we have more fans and friends of the band in Atlanta than we do at home in Nashville and so great to catch up with and also meet fellow SG101'rs, so........A sincere Thank You to Chad, Sonny, Bob from Surf King, Atlanta and everyone at the show for putting up with my bad humor and foul mouth.
Hey - they put the mic there, not me, LOL
Nap Time
Cheers,
Jeff

I had a fantastic time at the Stomp. It was very cool to meet Ed of The Surge!, Jamie, Chad...Jeff and the guys from Crazy Aces. Chad puts on a first class, top shelf musical showcase and I highly encourage anyone who can attend to make the trip! I'll definitely be back for more Southern Surf Stomps.
