I posted this in another area, hope it's ok to post it here as well!

I just finished recording Silent Night

https://soundcloud.com/chris-vee-1/silent-night

It's the first recording i've posted. I wanted to learn how to use Garage Band, so i chose this song in the spirit of the holidays to start with.
The cover art is a painting my 4 year old did last year and i thought it would make a nice cover Smile

The arrangement is pretty straight forward. I played with a few ideas but this is what i ended up with... mistakes and all! I will probably go back and remix / master it a bit more... i didn't spend any time doing that yet.

Lovely guitar tone, just-right tremolo, and you played well. You did great, Chris.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

LOVE it! Nice job for getting hands wet with Garage Band! I thought the guitar tones you applied to that were very cool. Thumbs Up

I'm just finishing working on Sleigh Ride using Bruce Lindquist's backing track (so now the Admiral, she thinks I'm doing a Christmas CD).

Any chance you could upload your backing track you created (bass & drums) to into the downloads section under backing tracks? I'd love to lay my take on this so I could tell the wife "ok, here's two..."

Else PM me & perhaps you could email me the mp3 file?

Thanks! Great job.

Thank you Noel!

And thank you Badger! Sure i can make an mp3 with just the drums and bass. if i can't upload it for any reason i'll PM you and email it over.

Thanks!

Much appreciated. I should noodle around upstairs acoustically, otherwise the good idea faerie strikes & someone suddenly thinks it's a project. What we used to call in the Army "mission creep." However, maybe it'll push one of the grand-daughters over the edge into the surf-side of The Force.
Cool ho ho ho

Man, that was beautiful! I really enjoyed listening to that. Also, it sounded very professional. How long did this project take?

Thank you SixStringSurfer! it took about 3 weeks start to finish. a few evenings each week for an hour or so. i tried a few things that i ended up ditching. i learned a bit more about garage band, but still found a few things i couldn't figure out... like fade in and fade out on individual tracks and not just the master track. i'm sure i'll learn more on the next song.
