Every touring surf musician should have something like this in their toolbox. If your Fender tank fails, just connect the pan to the Surfy-Bear-FET-Reverb-in-a-box -- instant reverb replacement.

JObeast wrote:

As long as the RCA leads do not themselves pick up any hum (maybe top-shelf shielded cables will do) you could place the pan in a bag anywhere convenient, as long as it's not close to any powerful transformers, and it will stay quiet.

Ordinary RCA cables are normally shielded.

Old punks never die... They just become surf rockers.

I just got all my stuff ordered. Now to find a nice tool box.

It looks great!
EVERYTHING takes more time than expected! Wink

I am impressed by your faceplates.
Not sure its possible to find that kind of transparent printing material here.

I have found a local advertising agency that can print stickers in the size of a faceplate. I am not sure if the faceplate would look good enough...

the way it look it is cause the varnish on ,maybe just another sheet of transparency plastic could make the same result
like that
http://www.amazon.fr/Olympia-Set-Plastifieuse-format-230/dp/B004UV1I0Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1406048065&sr=8-1&keywords=plastifieuse
need to try cause in in fact it will avoid the varnish step
i think i have one at my parent house

miss the rear panel again and handle

it is really long the tolexing Shock

That looks awesome! Thumbs Up

The reverb tank arrived 2 days ago......
My board arrived yesterday so the project starts this weekend......

I am not obsolete, I am RETRO.... Cool

I'm trying to talk our other guitarist into building one of these. If he follows through I'm going to try to get my hands on some of
THIS STUFF instead of grille cloth for the front just to freak people out...

Vantablack is actually so deeply black that your eyes can’t really see it at all, only the area surrounding it. And we’re not kidding when we say looking at this “strange, alien” stuff is like gazing into a black hole.

Off topic apologies - your link mentions Farnborough Air Show, a stones throw from where I'm sitting, I had a free ticket last week but couldn't be arsed to go (seen it all before sort of thing) If only I'd known that black stuff was there!

How did you mount the reverb pan?
Spring suspension or not?

What a cool project, Ludobag. Looks fantastic. Let's hear it :-)!

Fender parts can be expensive here in Europe.
If you're interested, you can find cheap knobs and indicator lamps on Ebay, almost identical, free shipping from China!

Yeah, TAD only has a horizontal mount pan for reverb units, but I got one a couple of weeks ago, mounted it vertically anyway and it works and sounds great. And when you order a pan from them, they have all the other stuff you still need as well: grill cloth, handle, knobs, pilot light, ...

You really did a good job on that reverb unit so far, it looks great !

short vids, hope you hear the difference
the hum is the amp ,
setting dwell 6 tone 4 mix 5 to all for the first vid
for the second the mix of fet reverb at 6 to have a volume near the frv1

frv1 vs fet reverb 1

frv1 vs fet reverb 2

in the room for same setting the frv1 is much high in volume but ice pics a lot , more over the sound is less naturel ,more put on,not in ,like the fet reverb ,the frv1 tend to take the control of the sound not to be a part of it
with the camera you heard it not but not as in the room for sure ,i pick really hard to make listen the difference beetween ,with hard picking the frv1 become really agressive

ps forget the crappy playing ,today it didn't be good at all

Outstanding! Mine should arrive this week from Bjorn. Huge difference between the FRV-1 and the Fetverb.

Yes, I mailed TAD about this, they claim that their B-version also can be mounted vertically. Seems to be no difference.

Ludobag, great sound Smile

Tanks guys, the YouTube vidéo compress the sound and the différence is les audible ,but You heard i think the ice pick and the sound over not in,
If is really a feeling also if You play with accent the fet reverb react well like a tank ,no fu... high that make Your ears bleed,i think the frv1 do the tricks for the overall sound in band playing ,but it is really les enjoying to play with (You have to control very much your attack to avoid This piercing high)
The fet reverb
is really more plaisant to play with ,react well no ice pick ,the setting are really open ,not one or 2sound You Can use the tone also to make it more Bright ect
Also m'y muting on E treble is Good ,not at less volume as on the frv1(i think it is cause of the digitaling in fact)

If You play something muted the frv1 Can do it cause it drip well but with the fetreverb it is annoter world ,more interresting ,more naturel ect ...
Then i would like to tanks again Bjorn for this fantastic projet,(i hear already JonPaul saying it is not a real tank! Argh Cry yes of course but really close) more over it is real springs Big Grin
I wait m'y tad tank to heard how it sound better, the sad thing is i Can t plat m'y drri for now (i think if is not Good to play with nothing plug in the verb rca)
