Hello all!

We are "Meanwhile in Mexico", a surf rock band from Greece.
We have formed in 2008 and performed various concerts all over our country. Including opening for the Atlantics and for Messer Chups. Furthermore, we have participated in various surf and rockabilly festivals along with fellow Greek bands such as Dirty Fuse, The Bullets, The Ducky boyz, The Titanics and more.

Recently we have released our first LP through On Stage Records, entitled "Rosengrantz and Guildenstern are Deaf".

You can find more information, songs and videos in our official site

Our facebook page is this

You can listen our record or buy it in digital form from our bandcamp page

And you can order it from here

Last but not least, two songs of ours (a brand new and a cover) are included in the new complilation from Green Cookie records, which you can hear here

We would like to hear some opinions and various feedback on our work.
Thanks in advance.
Surf's up!

How do you render such surf terms as gremmie, hodad, kahuna, waihini, cowabunga, surf's up, stoked, hang ten in Ellinika? I know they have gorgeous beaches in Hellas...

Squink Out!

@stratdancer: Thanks man. The Pink Floyd cover of yours is great and very genuine as an idea.
@JObeast: Despite the fact that we have some of the greatest beaches, the wind does not allow surfing. Cause it does not create the needed waves. It can be done in very specific places all over the country (personally, I know two). The weather mainly allows sports such as wind surfing which not only is wide spread, but we have a very famous athlete who has won various medals including a gold one in the Olympics. So, those terms that you ask do not have a certain translation as far as I'm concerned. Mainly because they have to do with a culture that is not spread here and because they are new slang terms of the last century.

The main sport that the Greeks do in the beaches is called "kamaki". Which is a slang term for "flirting". However here it is done using very special and cheesy pick up lines to get hooked up with female tourists.

If, though, you are very interested in the translation contact me with a private message and I can ask some friends that are surfers. This appeals to anyone who wants to ask something about Greece. Because I would like this thread to be about the band. Thanks. Smile

Thanks for the comp Melvin. I like traditional surf sounds and surf covers of classic rock tunes. I've got an REM song cued up with the drum tracks done that just needs the guitars tracked out. I really dug the first song on the playlist of yours. Great traditional surf with sax.

A further comment after checking out your vid of Hawaii Five-O.
That is one of the most simply elegant 3-person arrangements I've heard of that - outstanding.

There's even a post with some folks around here (self included) looking for a simple, un-retarded backing track for that song. So if you ever feel like it, your bass/drums to that would be a welcome upload in the downloads section by more than a few folks.

Strat tone is sweet on that! Great to have you here, thanks for hanging it out.
