Yikes! Who would have known that an EL34 tube thread could lead to such combative posturing. That is the meanest thread I've seen here so far. We're all here to share ideas and learn from each other so we need different opinions. But if you are going to be blunt and say something sucks or "is shit", how about backing that up with something. Otherwise it is just being juvenille, dogmatic, meaningless and insulting--who needs that?

You have to give people a lot of leeway on these forums and not be so defensive. Give the other guy the benefit of the doubt. A typo or a badly phrased sentence can be taken the wrong way so quickly and then it spirals out of control. And then you end up scaring away the experts like Phil Dirt, John Blair, Dave Wronski, etc that we can all really learn from. I've seen this happen on other email lists and Yahoo Groups. That's why I think it is important to be civil even in disagreements.
A lot of us have strongly held opinions and aren't afraid to say so. That's fine but let's please be civil about it. Thanks.

Since I notice that your head remains round, even after repeatedly beating it against the flat surface of your computer desk (your icon), I would like to think that even when humans are at their worst or experience their worst, hope still lies within us. Personally, I love this site... occasional wart and all.

I agree 100%, but also, kudos to the people involved in that thread for taking a step back, saying sorry and moving on.
I guess that's how humaity as a whole accomplishes things. or should.

I was going to say that music has a lot to do with it, because liking it is so personal and subjective. But then I realized even computer scientists argue just as passionately about which algorithm or data structure you should use to solve a problem.
