Hi Niels, thanks for including The Astroglides "Rabbi Jacob", do you only collect well known tunes, or obscure stuff too?

Well as long as they are instrumental surf and the recording quality is professional I´d love to have some obscure stuff as well

Obscure? Maybe - Instrumental? Yes - Surf? I don't know

Well, reading the conditions, I am not exactly sure if they apply.
The same album you took "Rabbi Jacob" off has quite a few that were used in TV shows I used to watch, but, most of them were from production libraries.
So - they were written to be used in TV and film, but not specifically for each show.
If you feel these apply, grab them off "Channel Surfing With...The Astroglides":

Inspector Neer (unknown credit)
Crime and the Law (unknown credit)
Second Look (original - Edgar Froese - Stuntman)

The Scimitars

Well if the music was written to be used in TV and Film and has been used I think that applies. What I am refering to is for instance "Misirlou" that was not written as a soundtrack for film and used 30 years later for Pulp Fiction. But what you describe all sounds very useable. Are all tracks from "Channel Surfing With..." TV tunes?

All the tracks from "Channel Surfing" were either used or inspired by TV shows or movies. The ones I gave were actually used on TV. There's another one, that is not strictly surf:
"English, English, English" - which years later I found out was called "Mods and Rockers" and is from KPM (library music). As such it was used also in the animated Spiderman TV show, and a 70's German porn flick. Our version is not very good, we only had a short snippet used by the "English, English, English" TV show.

The Scimitars

Well I will check them all out, thanks for clarifying!
Cheers,

See the "Shots in the dark" tribute to Mancini cd on Del Fi
Lots of great Mancini songs from movies.
Some surf, some loungey, most are instro.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Also see the Om om records tribute to
"American Grafitti" soundtrack.
Lots of vocals, but I recall a fair amount of Instros
on each cd.

I like this thread !

Ok, X-Ray Vision recorded "Theme from Fantomas" (M. Magne) and "Theme from Persuaders" (J. Barry). Both are on their LP.

The Taikonauts did "Theme from Black Saddle" on their first LP.

Hawaii Samurai recorded "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" back on their "Shape of Surf to Come LP".

Los Tiki Phantoms released a 7" titled "Papa Soy Une Zombie" and it seems it's the OST for a movie but I don't know much more.

The Revelaires also did "Hawaii 5-0".

And you definitely have to check the "Beyond the Sea" compilation released on Cordelia Records. There are several TV Themes on it if I remember correctly.

So far, that's what I can think about.
