There are also versions of Exodus by The Looney Tunes, Meshugga Beach Party and The Eagles (the sixties band from UK)

Versions of Goldfinger by The Atlantics and Man or Astro-Man?

What about Peter Gunn?

Hey Niels, just curious if you ever saw the TV commercial (a bank I believe) with the Meshugga Beach Party version of If I Were A Rich Man that played last year in Holland?

Wow, I almost forgot about these guys! I remember them playing in the entrance hall of my university at the beginning of my second year there. They did quite a lot of themes, perhaps even more than classic surf songs (I have to dig out that record of them again!). They were also quite extraordinary to look at: Two girls in golden jumpsuits on drums and bass, and Mr. Space himself rocking a worn out Jaguar (double picking with a thumb pick!). That was great fun! But they seem to have stopped playing for good ages ago... No

Another thing: The very best version ever of "Hawaii 5-0" was not mentioned so far: Jon & the Nightriders did a ultra short and fast rendition (26 seconds!), which is featured as a hidden track on "Banished to the Beach".

Would be the perfect kick off song for this whole thing!!!

Los Apollos - cinematic surf music trio (Berlin)
"Postcards from the Scrapyard" Vol. 1, 2 & 3 NOW available on various platforms!
"Chaos at the Lobster Lounge" available as LP and download on Surf Cookie Records!

BBC horror series Mystery & Imagination. It's not the most popular theme tune on earth but I found an instro version played by Willy Wilsons Twangers HERE

One episode called "Lost Hearts" by the pen of M.R. James "Ghost Stories for Christmas" (1966 in B&W), utterly shocked and creeped-out the nation. We had only 3 TV stations in the UK at the time and nearly everyone was talking about it next day. Sadly, the BBC lent the episode out and it became lost.
Lost Hearts vs the Exorcist We'll never know!

Hi Niels, thanks for including The Astroglides "Rabbi Jacob", do you only collect well known tunes, or obscure stuff too?

Well as long as they are instrumental surf and the recording quality is professional I´d love to have some obscure stuff as well

Yeah I saw that one, this is the national lottery and they have very big campaigns, hard to miss. Funny commercial.

I have not included live versions of tracks, I´m only interested in studio recordings since I feel a cheering crowd and the "live feel" of tracks generally takes away some of the mystery of these scores.

I have also decided not to include the Pulp Fiction tracks. These classic tracks were never written as a score for Pulp Fiction. I am not looking for existing tracks that were used in a film or tv series years later. I am looking for music written for a film or tv series in a surf version.

Any additional tracks are more than welcome although we will already be able to fill quite some shows with this list Smile

Thanks everybody. Keep ´em coming!
