I dig it. I've been a fan of tk's stuff, but this might be the first time I've seen a direct comparison of his pickups. Very unique, and percussive, when compared to the T-armonds and sorta-standard lipstick. Even the Cc and Bigsby show significant differences, when shown side-by side.
Very helpful.
all i need now, is extra dough.

Surfin' Teles? Sure I've done it for years. Brian Carman of the Chantays played a hardtail Tele style guitar live many times and would grab the body and bend the neck for vibrato. He is very good at it.

Of the four guitars demo'd above I liked the sound of the pine slab with the T-armonds in it. To my ears it was the most surfy. I would supose that with amp adjustments and the tone control on the reverb unit they would all cut the mustard.

Keep it Drippy Brothers and Sisters!

Lots of reverb, but I don't hear any surf music. That is why I didn't comment. You should do some surf music samples for us!

I think we all love Teles here, but we don't often get to hear them play the music.

This 'looks' sorta convincing

I loved the 2nd geetar tone - I was getting distortion thru my 'phones when I listened so it was a little hard to enjoy

He who dies with the most tubes... wins

I love Teles for surf. To my ears, I liked #1 best, but I have to concur with Jake, it wasn't surf music. Sounded good though!

No surf music? I played a chord progression vibe from Los Straight Jackets

TV, I think they were looking for a big gliss. I got what you were trying to do.

Keep it Drippy Brothers and Sisters!

sometimes the surf is just washed out maaaan ( i just told this to my 9 yr old as we were at the Wedge two sundays ago, and it was just shy of looking like a lake...he was really bummed)

Lol! Some nice zen-logic there!
I love tele's, my first guitar was a tele. And I like to switch between my jag/jazzy, gretsch and tele.
I loved the tone of 3rd rutters, damn, I think I'm gonna hunt me some TK Smith's for my MIJ bigsby tele. The original pickups suck anyway. So I was thinking of replacing them with dearmonds. But these TK's really shine!
Thanks for the great demo!

If the player good in surf, the guitar will play surf Smile I love tele's

original compositions (low-level demo stuff /out of tune, etc) myStuff not my best, but i don't like to be in a musician community without anything to show

Sounds good to me! I play tele's and while I don't play surf, those are some happening tones. Giving me ideas for a 4th Tele...

Any guitar can surf, teles included. As for the clips, they all sounded pretty much the same to me, through my lap top speakers, and I thought there was too much reverb. Otherwise, the playing was good.

GaryJ, plug in some speakers maaaaan! Big Grin Big Grin
