A Ventures fan from Japan recently noted that they have played Japan 2,563 times since 1962. They'll add another 44 performances there to the list this summer. They did not play Japan in 1963,1964,1983,1985,1986, and 1987.
These numbers have to be some kind of recored breakers.
The most performances by an instrumental rock band?
The most performances by an American band in Japan? I imagine there could be an American cover band playing a Tokyo Airport Hotel lounge regularly for the last 20 years that would beat that but it's still purdy good. Don Wilson turned 79 this year.-Marty

Yes, it is. So is the recent announcement that Jerry McGee, who has only played with The Ventures in Japan for a long time, is replacing Nokie Edwards in the lineup from now on. Which means I saw one Of Nokie's last performances as a Venture.

Well, it seems Nokie has found a way to still perform with the Ventures, just not with The Ventures. Kinda cool though. It's part of a whole tour with Nokie performing in Japan with lots of Ventures tribute bands. Besides the Yamagata Ventures, the others are Sanriku Ventures, Ueyama Ventures, Fukushima Ventures and the Akasaka Ventures.
