Hi

I am listening to Peter Murphy Carver Combo - Swedish band.

Not an instrumental but very nice surfy guitars:

Pre-Surf, yet sounds like Surf, instrumentals from the 1950's and 60's.
Very primitive!

Maeds Dominos "The Big T" -- excellent new vinyl EP from Maids Dominos, who are from Sweden. Definitely worth seeking out.

So there are some other 'origins' of surf music then? (Other than Dick Dale or the Belairs??) Are there any digitized soundbytes anywhere I wonder?

Surf Daddies

all Day Long I have been listening to cds from the Baja Marty collection.
some I had, and hadn't heard in awhile, Richie Allen"german surf comp"
Mermen, "Only you" and "Krill Slippin'"
and stuff I Never found for sale and I finally got now.
Trashmen Box set,
and a CDR of a Live set of the Eliminators by themselves,
and with Eddie Bertrand from the 1st SG101 convention.

I am so glad, and honored to have these great gems, and hard to find
cds, but very sad in the situation that brought them to me.

Bitter Sweet in the most extreme case.
Luv Ya Marty, Miss ya forever,
thanks for the Great times, and now for your Music treasure.

Re: Jason and the Scorchers: Wonderful music! I've been a fan since about 1985. Damn shame about Perry Baggs.

WKHR FM 91.5, currently recognized as Cleveland’s favorite Big Band station. Every monday I listen the radio through the web (I'm from Argentina) and I listen from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Charlie Gray is an awesome DJ who plays Big Band, Swing, Sweet Band, music from the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s.

Excellent music for relaxing, and dinner time! Very Happy

With the recent passing of Jon Lord, I stumbled on this:

It' a revelation! The missing link between Deep Purple and Rainbow. It's culled from two of the three final shows (Paris and Graz) by Purple in April '75 before Ritchie split for Rainbow. The first Rainbow album was alredy recorded, unbeknownst to the rest of the guys in Deep Purple. Ritchie had given his notice to Purple's management some time before, but worrying that it will all unravel before the tour was over, they kept the news from the rest of the band. By these final shows, they had figured out something was afoot.

Ritchie' tone, his riffs, his choice of notes (incorporating more and more exotic scales) were all much more like what he played live in Rainbow in the next few years than his Deep Purple playing. In fact, the music on this CD has more in common with '77's Rainbow On Stage album than it does with '72's Deep Purple Made In Japan album.

It's fascinating to hear his evolution from Made In Japan to Live in London to now The Final Concerts and then to On Stage - an amazing progress in a period of five years! I'd say the '76 tour by Rainbow was probably the peak of Ritchie's live playing.

Anyway, for the few on here that dig Blackmore and Rainbow, I'd highly recommend picking up the above CD.

I'm converting that John Severson LP that I posted in the latest Surf record thread.

Discogs.com quotes him as having 76 Albums, and 932 credits. That is prolific.
