I'm surprised he doesn't go broke paying LucasFilms to produce these videos.

Hey! I sort of like some Ed Wood movies. But please don't tell anyone; I have a reputation.

Noel, to be honest, I do enjoy a handful of the Ed Wood films as well. There was a certain level of amateur genius that was crawling underneath the rough surface.

Ed Wood films are hilarious, there is nothing funny about any of these videos. All of these songs sound like they belong on Sesame Street, if they wanted to destroy Sesame Street.

So, the June issue of Classic Rock magazine had a review of a Merrell Fankhouse DVD that I thought you'd enjoy seeing.
Merrell Fankhouser's Tiki Lounge - Volume 2
One-way ticket to weirdsville
Merrell Fankhouser is one of those peripheral musicologists who never managed to be in the right place at the right time. A cult figure in surf and psych circles, his Tiki Lounge TV shows were hillariously off-kilter. On this compilation, we find the Fank using his jovially inept interview technique on a raft of fringe artists, like Mary Ramsey of 10,000 Maniacs and drummer Billy Hensche, and jamming with a few pals, Spirit's Ed Cassidy and the late Quicksilver guitarist John Cipollina being the most notable. Endearingly barmy in small doses, Merrell's appeal soon wanes. The jaw-droppingly chummy chats make National Lampoon's Mister Roberts sound vaguely intelligent. The accompanying CD may appeal to devotees of his Cali-Hawaii hybrid sound, but after a couple of listens to surf romp Monster Swell and MF's take on All Along the Watchtower , there's still no answer to the question: why?

I just wasted so much of my time watching this horrible, horrible music! Yet, I couldn't stop watching! There is something very odd and Jim Jones-like about him.

— That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.
