I understand Morphball, Murph and Onlsow Beach's band "El Mirage" has their first gig tonight? Let us know where it is and afterwards how it went please. There's heaps of talent in that band, hoping some videos show up on youtube!
Break a leg guys! (or, is that break "some" legs?..)

Wow, thanks so much, Rich! That is incredibly nice of you to think about our 'lil cover band tonight; we are hoping the weather behaves tonight and all gear goes undrenched, haha.

You may tell an actor auditioning for a role to "break a leg" so they get into the "cast". In this instance you could tell morphball to kick some ass and don't eff up.

Or maybe "kick ass so hard your leg breaks". LOL
Thanks for the well-wishes, Rich! We've been keeping the maiden voyage on the down-low... a self-imposed non-compete clause with the Summit. We would have loved to play the Summit and were graciously offered a slot by Crispy, but we honestly didn't feel we were ready/worthy of doing so. I've played the Summit every year since it's inception and have the utmost respect for the caliber of bands on the bill. Last night was no exception and I remember standing there and thinking "thank god we're not playing this year!"
But we are real excited about what we've got goin' on. SG101 brought us together and we recruited a friend on bass and the rest is history. Well, since we haven't officially played our first show, let's call it "history in the making". LOL But it's really cool how our little "surf study group" has evolved into something capable of helping spread the gospel of surf music.
Right now it's raining like crazy, but hopefully things will clear up by 7:00. If so, we'll try to capture something on a flip or digital recorder to share. Thanks again!

Dang! If you guys sound even half as dialed-in as the band and gear looks, it will be very impressive! Any video or audio?

am I seeing a mix of Vans and Converse shoes?
gotta get those boys in line, and get all Vans shoes.
and if Im seeing wrong, then all 4 of you need Vans.
Converse are for basketball, not surf music.

Wow, thanks for all the comments/interest!
Jeff - In the interest of conserving funds for dickies and shirts, we all wore Converse (less expensive than vans). I actually had 3 pairs of matching navy vans to loan out, but not everyone was a size 11. LOL BTW, I love me some Vans, but not sure the company existed during the first wave of surf.
Howard - we played each and every one of the 20 songs we had ready to go... it was a very solid, rocking set. The crowd seemed to dig the music. Bear in mind there was a lot of family and friends in the audience, but still, we didn't have to dodge tomatoes. And not one call for "free bird". Word had spread about the show and there quite a few local musicians in the crowd. These are musicians we know and respect and for them to give props afterwards meant a helluva lot. Mike played the majority of lead guitar parts, but Fady was the man on Sunset Beach. You would never know that this was Fady's first gig, ever. He played with confidence, authority and musicianship. (And you thought he spent all his time posting on SG101?) Not so, he woodshedded like a fiend and was good to go. Mike was just as amazing as he is on his morphzone videos.. except he was standing and having to play along with a human rhythm section.
Jeremy - we had 3 flips rolling from different angles. Turns out mine got the best audio, but also died 3/4 of the way through the set. We're working to sort through the songs to see if we can patch footage together for a song or two suitable for SG101 consumption. On a side-note, you guys were incredible as always at The Cave. This was my wife's first instro summit and she finally got to hear what I was talking about regarding the 'lads live show. Well done!

Hey thanks Murph! You guys gotta play it next year!
On a side note, the Madeira did get one call for Freebird at the show we played the next night (In Fayette-nam!), to which Patrick immediately belted out the first verse! It was classic!
