Brian,
POTD?

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Eddie has been in my daily prayers eversince I heard of his terrible illness.
I am at ease to say the same on behalf of "Men Of Mystery".
May God assist him in this challenging time.

Blessings,
Abdel

Wow! It is great that Eddie could get out to the show. I would have loved to be there as well.

Those are pretty moving pix as well.

BEST Reverbs!

just noticed that my reply made it go to a new page,
hate it when that happens,
so I quoted them for people to see on the new page.

Tim, or Tom,
can we get an update from either of you about how Eddie is doing?

Jeff(bigtikidude)

I have not seen Eddie since the first of the year since I have been sick with various illnesses since then. I spoke to Eddie today. He is ok but feeling a bit weak. When I get over my sinus infection, I'm taking him to visit Randy Nauert of the Challengers. Hopefully he will feel well enough to make it to some gigs at the Surf Museum and Pier. I hope we can get another tribute together for him. His cancer remains unchanged. His time with us is measured in months. Please call or write him.

I've been thinking about Eddie lately, and I must say I kinda expected to hear this news. Damn. So sad. Eddie is truly a prince among men, and what a gigantic talent. This is far too soon for him....

Terrible. I was hoping to hear that he was getting better. Hang in there, Eddie! You're in our thoughts. That young man (for that is what he truly was) that I met for the first time in 2008 made such an impression on me. He was like a kid, someone who had not grown old, playing his guitar just the way he did 40 years ago. It's beyond sad to see such a destructive illness befall such a fantastic soul and influential musician.

If I have the chance to meet Eddie Bertrand I will tell him that he is an inspiration to thousands upon thousands of guitarists, and sets a standard not as many could hope to achieve, myself included. If I don't get the opportunity, will someone please tell him for me?

Isn't it wonderful how we are all interconnected? Just recently, I too began thinking about Eddie. So much so that I started wearing my Eddie and the Showman hat again that I chased him across the parking lot at Suzy's to score at the first 101 Convention. I was even wearing it a our most recent Surge! show and standing on the steps last Saturday night, waiting to get into the California Guitar Trio show at the Five Spot here in Atlanta, I was wearing it when Paul Richards of CGT walked by, recognized me from previous shows, noticed my hat and gave me the thumbs up. Cool.

Eddie is truly a legend in his own time.

He was on meds and in a ton of pain when I met him and ran through a few songs... back in 2010 or so.
Does anyone have an update? The man wrote some great songs and could really play that guitar!

Ohh man this is all very sad. I kind of got away from Surf music right when Eddie came back. Never met the man but have loved his music and his work has been a HUGE influence on my playing.

Thoughts and prayers with Eddie.

I spoke to Eddie last week. He was spacing a bit. He thought he had been moved to a home in Fullerton. He is still in Long Beach. Not much change in Eddie's condition. He is hanging on. Hope to see him this weekend. Send your cards and letters to:
