Hey Jeff are you goin?

"Maybe there aren't any surf bands; there's only surf music?" Tuck

Scott,
Seriously thinking about it.
Not that I can afford it,
but hoping some friends can help make it happen.
I hear everyone should go at least once.

The Last 2 years seemed to have more surf
either at the show, or around town events.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Tammy and I are going instead of Caliente this year.
Hope to see ya there!

They've added a pre-Viva show at the Orleans with Deke Dickerson and "Blind Rage & Violence" - a Link Wray tribute band. I'm flying in Wednesday, and plan on attending this, as well as all of the Viva surf/instro related shows through Saturday night.

Looks like there's only 500 tickets left, so if anyone here is thinking about going, act quick. When they made a similar announcement for last year's fest, they sold out within days.

sounds like fun

Just heard from Deke - he has just released a Blind Rage & Violence CD - he's gonna give me a promo at the show on Wednesday, and I will get copies in stock for our catalog shortly after the fest. I don't know much about it, other than it's inspired by Link Wray - not sure if it's covers, or if it's like the Venturesmania CD, which was originals inspired by the Ventures.

So we should figure out a way for all of us surf fans to meet up in Vegas. Obviously we'll all be at the Ventures / Duane Eddy show, but there'll be thousands of other people there as well. Should we set up a time and place to meet, or share contact info here? I've heard from Eric of Boston surf band The Trabants, who's gonna be there for the whole fest. Perhaps sometime Thursday afternoon?

Man.... I'm going to Vegas tomorrow and staying until Tuesday for a conference... So close, and yet still so far.....

Have fun, all!

Ivan - that sucks - can you extend your stay? Probably not possible, but that timing sucks. Then again, if your conference was the same time as the fest, it'd be hard being there while the Ventures and Duane Eddy were on stage.

I've posted on the Double Crown site about my plan for the week - if any of you are going, please take a look. It'd be great to meet up with any of you that are going.

DANG!!! I just returned from a week in Vegas (honeymooning) this past Tuesday. Spring Break was in full swing and the town was slammed with intoxicated college kids.

Had I known about this show earlier we would have rescheduled our trip. It sounds like it's going to be a killer event Big Grin

Thanks to Carlos of the Tequila worms for the offer.

That's too bad Jeff - would have been nice to see you there.

I know, I just can't justify doing something like that,
with so many bills and debt over my head.

I know it's rough for many people out there - I'm thankful that I have my day job, and my wife works as well, but neither of us has received a raise in the last 3 years, and insurance costs keep going up, as well as the "food and upkeep" on two growing boys. Hopefully you can get things going positively again - it does seem like things finally (and slowly) are turning around with the economy. Hopefully that momentum keeps spreading throughout the country.

Holy cow - Deke just posted a Viva update on Facebook. Big update regarding the Guitar Geek show!

"Doing the Vegas Guitar Geek Festival Saturday night 7:30-9 pm in the showroom with Eddie Angel, T.K. Smith, Slacktone, Dave Wolfe, and several secret surprise guests!"
