Going dark would probably lose Google the GDP of many countries...

Oh look, Congressman Smith (TX) is bringing SOPA back to life in February:

The wording of that... really disgusting that he could get elected to office.

Thanks for taking this stance, Brian. Awareness of this critical issue is massively important.

Anyone who believes SOPA protects free speech and promotes intellectual freedom is drinking the same KoolAid that makes people believe 1984 is Orwell's defense of socialism.

Good Job Brian ! I know there are a lot of sites doing a blackout
as well for tomorrow .
They are signing and passing these Bill's in the middle of the
night , behind our backs and any other sneaky way to get things
done without us knowing ....

Thank You Brian: I concur, we are a virtual community of surf-nauts... thank you for taking a stand for our collective SG101 sovereign existence.

Nice work Brian!

"sharing of ideas, knowledge, democracy, innovation, and entrepreneurship..."

all require a modicum of liberty, a semblance of freedom, a guarantee of due process...

Thanks for the support guys.

The less government controls these, the greater the liberty. When government has too much control of these, there is no liberty at all.

In the 1970's, when UNESCO wanted to regulate the international press corps by issuing permits, without which journalists could not practice across international borders, (essentially putting the U.N. in charge of the press) our government stood firmly against the proposal (against the advice of the intelligensia btw) and defeated it. This would not be the case today.

Allow a government to put themselves in charge of what is allowed on the Internet and they've made themselves the gatekeepers of knowledge; a task for which governments have historically proven themselves stupid and tyranical.

On the bright side of things, it gives Noel more time to check out his great new gear!

SOPA lives—and MPAA calls protests an "abuse of power"

This is an excellent idea, Brian. The internet is probably one of the great tools of our time and the last thing that it requires is some form of censorship. These blackouts are necessary.

Kudos, Brian!

I'm very proud to be part of SG101.

I'm ashamed of our Congress.
