True, but I think grave robbing/defiling is something that is so horrible in the first place that it doesn't really matter if the guy was a vet. I'm not really arguing, just being really appalled by grave robbing. |

Possible workaround: have your casket made out of your guitars. |

In his caveman logic, he probably felt entitled to it, since the former owner was "wasting it" by not putting it to good use. (Although, to be fair to Paleolithic humans, even they had ritualized burial practices, in which favored items or objects of office and/or social station were sealed in with them.) This guy is a special type of trash; they've been around since people decided to start burying their dead. In olden times, they would have just killed him. He'll probably just do some time and hopefully learn this is not acceptable behavior. — |

There's been grave robbing since people started getting buried with valuables. This is why everyone was so excited to find the nearly untouched tomb of King Tut. Some people have never cared how they get stuff they want. They rob the weak and defenseless because it's easy and safe; no one is more defenseless than the dead. It's what happens when someone feels entitled to other people's property and has no respect for the person it already belongs to. And I've seen people argue in funeral parlors about whether someone's jewlery should be buried with her or be taken off before the burial. I spent my childhood in a house we didn't lock overnight or while we were away. So did most of our friends and neighbors. In Pittsburgh. It changed. Before I moved away a friend of mine there was robbed at gun point by an 8 year-old neighbor. I live in the Pocono's now and have a state-of-the-art security system. —This is Noel. I've spent several days thinking about this - the robber - total crap as a human.....that being said - When I die, I'd much rather donate my most precious possessions to charity, or loved ones, than be buried with them. As much as I love playing guitar, (or riding bikes also in my case) it the action, not the object. Plus, I'm pretty sure I can't really use the guitar since, you know, I'm dead and all. —"You can't tell where you're going if you don't know where you've been" |

solution #1 to avoid grave robbing : to be burried in a bank vault... no, I'm just joking about it but it always fascinates me how certain people can be when money/valuables are involved... despicable behavior —Monkey Ju |

I have some rather nice guitars and amps and I'd like to think other people will get to enjoy them after I'm gone. There is an idea out there that no one actually owns antiques, we just pay for the honor of preserving them for the next generation. This is how I feel about our musical equipment. I suppose I could have some of my equipment destroyed by having it buried with me, but then I would be creating a monument to my own selfishness. My opinion, of course. —If it ain't broke, fix it until it is. |

But a good one. I wouldn't suggest that it excuses robbing the coffin of someone who felt differently, mind you. — |
