ever heard of bands selling cd's ahead of recording them (to friends and family) in order to raise the budget needed (hey, I did in high school)
well, appearantly webtechnology has made a large scale variant of this possible. I saw this on television yesterday, there's a Ducth guy behind it. http://www.sellaband.com/
Ive only looked at it briefly, there seem to be some strings attached and things Id like to check out first (not how nowhere on the site "interest" is mentioned - that makes you wonder), but all in all it seems pretty legit.
check it out, I think it's quite fun that free world entrepeneurs are doing shit like this, even if it's for their own profit. Pretty sure I won't deal with it though.

I wanted to post that WR, I watched dutch tv too last night...
Read about it before, seems a nice way of skipping corporate involvement...and all kinds of managers, hot shots taking a piece of the cake.
I'm willing to buy a share in a killer surfband...

Exotica , and TV show musician/composer Robert Drasnin is doing something like this for his Voodoo 2 cd.
if you pay 30 bucks you get a signed cd, if you pay 75 you get your name in the (thanks area) of the book, and if you pay 200 you get to
go to a recording session.
