Danny Snyder

I'm back playing keys and guitar with Combo Tezeta

I don't know.

All,
the group was the RAYBEATS.. they eventually had a bass player named
Danny Amis aka "Daddy-O" who now is second guitar for Los Straitjackets. Surf is a small world.
BTW.. he played a Mosrite in his early days, too. Cool

How about the cowboy dude with the weird guitar...is it Nokie?

Yup, Cowboy Nokie! Yeehaw!

Does anyone know what that was from? Shocked Some kind of late 80's Ventures special...maybe Japan only?

And who is Chris Spedding?

"It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea

Chris Spedding is a British guitarist best known for his lead playing on Robert Gordon's "Rock'billy Boogie" album from the late 70's. He is mainly a session player. He recently played guitar for Roxy music on their recent North American tour. It is rumoured that Chris was the actual guitar player on the Sex Pistols "Never Mind The Bollocks" record but I don't know if thats true. I guess you could say he's one of the world's most famous "not famous" guitar players.

I think he was only on the demos recorded prior to the album.

The segment with Chris Spedding is from a JAPANESE video of a show in California circa the early 80s when the Ventures regrouped again with Nokie Edwards. They had a minor hit at that time with "Slippin' and Slidin'" (I think that's the title) written by the GO-GOs (yes the 80s girl group).
The show also featured Peter Frampton -playing APACHE, Jeff Baxter playing TEQULIA.. I think Robbie Krieger of the DOORS was on, some nameless chick singing SECRET AGENT MAN.. as well as some featured solos by the Ventures.
It's a cool video given the time it was produced.
Hope this helps..

Note Bob Bogle trying to be a bit more like a "modern rock star" with his bass...that is quite amusing, I must say... maybe he was watching too much 80s metal videos... Laughing

Ahh....thanks....was the song "Surfin' & Spyin'"? I believe the Go-Go's guitarist Charlotte Caffrey (sp?) wrote that one. She was later seen playing a Sherwood Green Jazzmaster.

Kind of funny that Bob Bogle is the most animated Venture in that clip. Is that video available somewhere?

Brian,
"Surfin' & Spyin'" is correct - I wasn't sure. I got the video in the mid 90s from some unknown video "vendor" here on the east coast.

There's a psuedo-hair metal Ventures video where they do "Wipeout." It's like half seizure-cam, half David Lee Roth's "California Girls." And it really, really smells like cheese.

That seems to be the most likely case. It sounds like it's Jonesy playing on "Spunk," too. It's hard to be certain, though, since on some of their live recordings he sounds almost as bad as Sid.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

Didn´t Jones admit to not playing on the album on the "classic albums" show? Or was he just taking the piss, as they say in the UK?
