Good news!!!
The seminal surf instro album from 1980, Jon/Nightriders' "Surf Beat '80" will be released on CD for the first time on 7 June!! All of the tracks have been digitally remixed and remastered. There are SIX bonus tracks included, several appearing for the first time. I expect the CD will be available on Amazon and CDBaby, as well as the following websites:
http://www.crossfirepublications.com
http://www.johnblair.us
I'll also have copies available at the Surfer Joe Festival and all of the upcoming John Blair Band tour dates in Italy later in June (http://www.surferjoemusic.com/johnblair/).

In regard to the thread, "What brought you to surf music?" this was a big step along the path. I am looking forward to this CD! I do have the vinyl version ...
Now in line for polycarbonate edition.

Awesome news! I'm already waiting in the queue as it will probably sell out quickly (as it should).
Hate to ask for any more with this announcement but .... I will anyway. Any chance that "Live at the Whiskey" might also be coming out on CD? I listened to that album years ago at a buddy's house and remember it was incredible.

Review on Reverb Central http://www.reverbcentral.com/reviews/j/jon1194.html
Looking forward to this release, let us know when it is avail.
Also, interesting that Dusty Watson handled drum duties on what the RC review states "John Blair's first album from his fledgling surf band." Here is a Jon & The Nightriders Fiberglass Rocket CD cover (also a very fine release) that Dusty and Pete Curry signed image Note the gnarly drumset Dusty drew.

I remember hearing Rodney on KROQ radio in L.A. play this while I was chasin' chicks in their VW bugs from party to party...
Thanks John!!
The Sliders recorded a never released record in 89? Bob Dalley might have the only copy out there...(besides me) That had blatent rip-offs of Latinia, Moment of Truth,Banzai Washout! I remember Banzai Washout because I overdubbed a cymbal crash I missed...It was a college recording project at Long Beach City College...
