Many of you know we're running a fundraiser to help Zanti over come the financial obstacles set up by his battle with cancer. Fortunately he's beating it, but the bills are starting to come in and he needs any help that you can give.
If you don't know Zanti, he's one of two guitarists in the S.F. Bay Area surf band The Deadbeats. These guys have been surf music fans since their teens, and quickly became one of the Bay Area's best live surf bands. Channeling the energy of first wave bands like Jim Messina and the Jesters, Dick Dale and the Deltones, Davie Allan, plus Eleki music from Japan. Then drawing further inspiration from modern bands like Satan's Pilgrims and The Treblemakers, Zanti and the guys went on to write their own modern classics like Gooch in Space and Hagbelly (to name only 2).
Zanti and his bandmates are just dripping with talent, and the surf music community is so fortunate to have these young men join our ranks. Speaking of the surf music community, we have really stepped up and put our money where our mouths are. We are over half way to our goal in only a day and a half. At this rate, Zanti will be free from excessive money worries and be able to concentrate on what's really important - making great music!
Please click this link and contribute if you haven't done so already.
Thanks!!!
Ladies and gentlemen, this is the official poster of the Surfer Joe Summer Festival 2015.
The designer STEVE NAZAR has come to surf music after our request for the very fist time. His graphic style has become legendary with Town&Country Surf Design in the late 80s. He's THE man, his style has been imitated everywhere as a symbol of wild, cool & sporty. His characters has been replicated in walls all over the planet.
He realised 2 fantastic custom designs for us. One of the two is this one. The other, still a surprise, will be soon available with our merchandise for the festival.
The posters will be available at the festival in A3 format, glossy heavy paper 300gr. You can reserve one if you like, just write us asap at info@surferjoemusic.com. The cost of the poster is 5 euros. Bring your marker and get your copy signed by all artists!
Enjoy.
Following the long tradition of KFJC produced surf CDs, COMBO SWELL is nineteen tracks of surf music - all recorded live at KFJC or at KFJC events between 1996 and 2014.
Howdy Campers!
It's that time of year again - time to sign up for Sierra Surf Music Camp! What the heck is SSMC you may wonder? It is the ultimate weekend camping out with some of the finest surf musicians and people on the planet! The camp is located near the historic gold mining town of Nevada City at a beautifully wooded 4,000-foot elevation and is situated beside the picturesque Bear River. Surf jams start the weekend off before groups of campers are assembled into SurfBand101 classes. Through rehearsals and one-on-one lessons with pro musicians like John Blair, Dusty Watson, Dave Wronski, Ferenc Dobronyi, Matt Quilter, and many others, campers will learn to improve their skills on their instrument. Classes will also be offered in songwriting, the history of surf music, instrument set-up/maintenance, and ukulele. Each day culminates with surf music by the campfire and at the end of camp each SurfBand101 group will perform what they’ve learned. SSMC is open to all ages and levels of musicians and families are strongly encouraged to attend.

The "Search for Atlantis" is a collection of Greek bands. In the past, there were several collection of Greek bands; even specialized ones with groups playing a specific style of music. However, this collection is unique as all participating bands play solely instrumental surf. Never before were so many bands in Greece to play this kind of music. We are talking about a very vibrant scene that is booming within the biggest economic and social catastrophe that Greece has experienced in its modern post-war history. We have created this collection with so much care both because we love surf music and for its particularity: The vast majority of participants haven’t released anything else so far and so this is their first step towards the general public. We want this scene to flourish by all means and leave visible traces in its passing. We hope it will receive positive response as a first step to establish in the minds of the people that surf music is an autonomous genre with lot of potential, but also as a reward of all the bands which strive for the best in unfavorable conditions. Surf's up !

North Sea Surf Radio was already doing groundbreaking work with compiling and broadcasting the Classic Surf Top 101 and the Surf Revival Top 101. Now, for the first time in history the surf music scene is to compile another ultimate list in surf music; The Album Top 101, the best 101 Surf Revival Albums as voted for by the listeners of North Sea Surf Radio and the members of the Surf Guitar 101 forum.
Everybody can submit their 10 personal favourite albums from the Surf Revival Era (1979-2013). Records released this year are excluded from the list.
