Stories from Shamehill New Single Release!

El Salto del Jalapeño / Queen of Tides

On a rare day off while touring California last January and February (2017) the lady and gentlemen of Stories from Shamehill hit the Hobby Shop Recording Studios in Los Angeles to record a two-track single. The Hobby Shop is located in Highland Park, Los Angeles where Quentin Tarantino shot Reservoir Dogs. With that state of mind and driven by almost a week of touring, Jarrod Keith (The Volcanics, Boss Fink) took them under his wings and recorded a slightly fuzzed-up version of their party anthem ‘El Salto del Jalapeño’ on the a-side! And while not even one week in the U.S.A. the Californian influences are already clearly reflected in b-side ‘Queen of Tides’, a hymn to Los Angeles and the Venice Beach Boardwalk in particular. Californian Dreamin’!

This record is a lasting reminder of our first American tour. We especially like to thank Jeff ‘Big Tiki Dude’ Hanson for making it happen. We also like to thank Sjors, Clint Beachwood, Frankie De La Torre, Marie & Jonpaul, Jarrod Keith, Andy Vaughan, Cousin Mary & Ken, David Greenfield, Ferenc & Karen, KFJC, Lorenzo Valdambrini, Mike Papageorgiou and anyone we missed for taking care of us.

Thanks to Alvino & The Dwells, The Volcanics, Aloha Screwdriver, Thee Swank Bastards, Blackball Bandits, Black Magic Beach Part, The Trabants, Insect Surfers, Hypnotic IV, Frankie & The Pool Boys, Fascinating Creatures of the Deep and The Gillbillies for sharing the stage with us!

Touring California was a combination of musical highlights and the warmth and hospitality of the global surf music scene. New friendships and unforgettable experiences. Surf’s up!

Special thanks to Jarrod, Frankie and Sjors for joining us on this unforgettable day in the studio! We made magic!
Hee-Hoo!

Recorded and mixed by Jarrod Keith on the 30th of january 2017 at The Hobby Shop Recording Studios West, Highland Park, CA 90042 Los Angeles, California. Produced by Jarrod Keith and Joris de Haan. Mastered at d² Mastering (Los Angeles, California). Artwork and photography by Joris de Haan.

FULL CIRCLE - THE STORY OF THE NEW DIMENSIONS

Watch the trailer here: “FULL CIRCLE” the Story of the New Dimensions
GoFundMe Page

In the 1960's, a group of Beverly Hills eighth graders helped define the Southern California surf sound. The New Dimensions are the most influential surf band you've never heard of. Their four instrumental LPs provided the backbeat to surf music. The New Dimensions were the unsung heroes of surf music, well known among musicians but almost forgotten to history. The film not only highlights music greats such as Jimmy Greenspoon, a founding member of Three Dog Night and acclaimed music producer and composer, Michael Lloyd but also brings to light the meaning of true friendship, overcoming challenges, hope and second chances. After the death of keyboardist, Jimmy Greenspoon in 2015, the remaining members of The New Dimensions are reuniting to create a new CD. The Northern California Filmmakers Coalition was invited to document this event, which will culminate in a live concert performance. With unprecedented access to the biggest names in 1960s surf music, the documentary film "FULL CIRCLE" is nearing completion.

As an independently funded project, FULL CIRCLE has been a labor of love. But we firmly believe that this film has wide commercial potential. Surf culture is stronger than ever, as you most certainly know. For most people, the music and the story of The New Dimensions is unknown.

Some of the people appearing in this film include:
The Beach Boys
Edward J. Olmos
John Stamos (actor/"Full House)
Dean Torrance (Jan& Dean)
Kathy Kohner (the original Gidget)
Bones Howe
Chuck Negron(Three Dog Night)
Bob Berryhill (of The Surfaris)
James Darren
Randy Nauert
Tommy Roe
Robert Dalley
Ron Dante
Denny Randell
Johnny Tillotson
Ron Saul
Robert Brunner
Robert Safir
Martin Hall (under contract to Dick Clark)
Robert Dalley
Gabe Katona
Denny Tedesco (producer of the film:Wrecking Crew)
Will Glover (The Pyramids)
Bob Spickard (The Chanteys)

The film is slated to be released in June of 2018. Plans for distribution include both foreign and domestic markets including film festivals and television exhibition on Netflix, PBS, The Surf Channel, National Geographic Channel and more.

FULL CIRCLE is about more than nostalgia. It tells the full story of 1960s surf rock in the voices of the people who were there. We hope that you will join us and become part of this remarkable journey.
