They may have initially made it for Neil Young types, of course...
then thought, "hey, aren't there still people actually playing surf music?" Fender is goofier than I thought if they expected surf players to abandon their tanks. _________________ doogadadoogadadoogadadoogada-boom-ba-da-boom-da!

I'm trying out the demo version of Amplitube Fender, which also has a 63 Reverb emulator. It actually sounds very good, quite convincing, but it uses up a lot of RAM, especially with the Dwell/Mix cranked - much more than just the amp emulator.
Which makes me think we won't be seeing any realistic digital '63 Reverb emulating pedals in the near future - a pedal isn't going to have the processing power of a PC. _________________ Our Pistols Are Useless

| This demo defused and curiosity I had about that unit. Pedal alternatives are interesting, not that any can replace outboard units. I have a Hermida reverb pedal on the way ... we'll see what that one can do. |

Well we are indeed quite capable of making something as small as a pedal have a lot of computing power, its just that no one will want to pay $5000 for a pedal when you can still buy a real reverb unit for $500. Well, some people might want that, but I don't think the general market could support it. _________________ "Look! No head!" - Laika & The Cosmonauts |

Are we comparing it to a tank, or to another pedal here? We all agree that a tank is the way to go, but how does it sound compared to the digiverb/grail/insert other pedal here?? Some of us are still stuck using "cheap" pedals instead of making the jump to a tank.
(of course, if I don't go to the convention I could buy a tank. Decisions.....decisions. ) _________________ Will

I think I have made a decision to add to my credit card debt and purchase a reverb tank finally. Excited! |

I dont think its an alternitive to the tank, just something that someone that wouldent buy a tank would use. Want more verb than the RV3 but hundreds less than the tank.
Its a good thing to have on the market.
I still stand buy that it sounds like a RI tank, bright and thin
The surf portion of the video is bogus anyways....we cant argue yet untill we get a good clip or someone trys the thing.
Do i think it will suck.....yes
Do i think it will be better than holy grail or any other shitty ped on market....yes
do i think its cool for $100 bucks...yes
Will i sell my tanks and play gigs with it or even ever own one?....NO _________________ Give me reverb or give me death!

| I agree with Scot in that, I am thinking it will have the edge over the simulated reverb effect pedal market. |

Good on you, reverb comes first! Tell the family to quit complaining and eat PBJ's for about a month! |

Something like this pedal makes sense for a lot of people, people that are not primarily Surf players but want to be able to cover Surf and thereby want an external reverb. I can't imagine it being as good as the real thing but it's probably good enough for someone with a casual interest in Surf. _________________ When Surf Guitar is outlawed only outlaws will play Surf Guitar.
