About all I can say is WOW!
After a slightly delayed start the Tritons started the show off with their baritone guitar surf sound. Very nice set with an unusual sound. Reminds me of the sound of James Wilsey.
The Atomic Mosquitos buzzed in next and infected everyone with their own East Coast Surf Virus. A great set. These guys have really kicked it up a notch since I last saw them. That was years ago when they opened for Slacktone in Arlington VA.
The Madeira closed the show with a great set. I really don't know what to say except this is a great group of musicians. Most of the tunes were from the new CD,, with a few Space Cossacks (for those of us who still don't want to accept their demise) and other covers thrown in. I think I was most impressed by drummer Dane Carter. He is absolutely ferocious behind the kit.
Anyone in the NJ & NY area: DO NOT miss this show!!!
I picked up the new Madeira CD 'Carpe Noctem' too. Playing it for the first time as I type this. Haven't homed in on any favorites yet, although Undercurrents seems to have caught my attention the most. If you liked the sample on their website you will love this recording. This is a must have disc. |
