Permalink G&L guitar 4 raffle @SG101 convention Thnx ColtsSurf

New Topic

So awhile back I got a PM from Colts Surf, who lives in Seal Beach.
He said he wanted to meet me at the HB pier show that was comin up.
And that he had a guitar that he wanted to give to me, to raffle off at the SG101 convention.

I am blown away by his generosity.
Thanks so much sir.

The Guitar is a G&L student size(jag length neck with small body)
SC-2 model Guitar. Bel Air Green.
Made in Fullerton(not sure what year)
But the thing is in Perfect new condition.
Hopefully Colts surf will chime in and give the year and other info.

medium weight for its size.
great wood tone, when not plugged in.
everything is rock solid, hardware, and neck joint.
even the pots and toggle switch are so well made and put together.
Just like Military Gun quality.
it has Locking tuners and a floating tremolo system, similar to a Wilkinson.
and the Tremolo arm goes into the hole and locks down a Teflon (I think) washer, that lets it rotate smoothly, but allows absolutely no play or giggle.
and Nice single coil pickups.
The neck is real strong and flat.

I haven't plugged it in to an amp.
But it plays nice. the action may need to be raised a bit.
I would love to keep this guitar, but alas.
It will be raffled off at the SG101 convention.
More info here:
http://surfguitar101.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=11621

raffle tix will be 10 dollars each.
must be purchased at the event.
and must be present to win.

I was blown away when Paul told me how much the Guitar was worth.

I wouldn't have guessed that he would have given us a guitar worth that much.

still in shock, and so thankful for it,

around 12 hundred dollar guitar here.
Hope we can get close to that much back in raffle tix sale.

I came up with the Idea of slitting the money from this.
Half for the bands, and half to go to Brian for the costs of running SG101.

What do you all think of that idea?

Jeff(btd)

That guitar is awesome! I hope I win it! Great idea about splitting the money between the bands & Brian. But BTD I think you deserve some of it too for all of the hard work you have done in making this whole SG101 Convention thing happen!
Thanks
Guy

Thanks for thinking of me Guy.

but I take nothing.
and like it.

well if some of the bands wanna give me a cd/45, or a t-shirt, I'm sure they could twist my arm.
and
If anyone wants to buy me a Beer at the Starting gate.
Or a Rum Barrel at Dons.
I wouldn't turn that down either.
Wink Hmmm Thumbs Up

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Jeff,

Hey I will buy you a rum barrel... That sounds cool! Remind me! But you better watch out you may have a gallon of them to drink if other hear about it!
Wink

reminder about the guitar.

not about buying me drinks.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

I'm thinking bout buying this Guitar and putting it back up for a Raffle for SG101 2013. It's a shame what happened to it, now it sits in a window waiting to be rescued by some Surf Music Fan. JonPaul lives close by, I'll have him check it out and Jeff (BTD) an I can go for a road trip.
What I need to know first is....How many of you would buy a Raffle Ticket for this Guitar.

Craig the Keg

Ooops wrong guitar. I'll repost on the other one.

Hodad makin' the scene with a six pack.

Do you have to attend to buy a ticket?

IMO.

Thanks for gettin the Link Preston.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

No problem.

Thanks for bumping Craig, this is kind of a cool guitar! I'd rather have the jazzy, though. Big Grin

IMO.

Yep. BTW, I borrowed it from him for a track awhile back in the studio, a cover of Black Sand Beach. Worked great. A cool little guitar. My son loves it beyond reason. Thanks again ColtsSurf/SG101!

BTD, my band is playing several times this month if you want to put the guitar thru an amp and see how it sounds?
