Next Big show is at the Pier,
Sun. June 7th
JUNE 7 PIER PLAZA
PYRONAUTS
TSUNAMI BLUE
BOARDWALKERS
OUTER WAVE
SLACKTONE
JOHN BLAIR & THE TRESPASSERS
good day,
started off kinda cool and over cast,
clouds burned off and it was bootiful.
the 1st pier shows are always kinda on the shy side, attendance wise.
I'd say there was between 100 to 200 people there.
all the bands played good,
I soaked up the Pollo set, as the PO show on Sat was kinda hectic with the
2 b-day partys going on, and such.and kinda felt like I missed some of it.
So I payed more attention to the Sun. show.
Paul did a great job filling in for Jonno.
can't wait to see Pyros down here for the June shows.
that line up is gonna kick ass. _________________ Jeff(bigtikidude)

Wish i could be there for my brother's first gig at the Pier. He's in the Tsunami Blue band....maybe someday they'll let us play over there too....doubt it but....maybe.
I'll say it right here.....Rick, i'm VERY proud of you and your acomplishments as a musician....your band is cool and your bandmates seem like very nice guys....thank you for inviting me to play with you sometime...that would be an honor. I also enjoy your posts here at SG101 even if i'm the only one that reads them!!! I miss you and Randy terribly and i'm going to make every effort to get over there one day for a few waves and some reverberated instrumental tunes!!
Aloha,

Ron,
I'm sure that Linda at the Surf Museum would love to have the Take Offs play at the Museum, or Pier, maybe even with Tsunami Blue.
how cool would that be, back to back brother bands.
you just need to get yourself and your band over here.

This is going to be fun, I wish you could be here too Ron.
The TakeOffs need to do a California tour. Thanks for the
kind words also, it means alot. And it's a far cry from the
days of "Charley horses" and making me eat grass in the
front yard. Jeffs right, you guys just need to get over here. _________________ Rick |

"you just need to get yourself and your band over here."
Jeff....I know...obviously, it's not that easy for us....we all work with a bunch of different groups that depend on us being there for them....but, with enough notice we can do whatever the heck we want!!haha! Rick even told me he would help financialy but with the economy the way it is i'm afraid to miss any more Sundays at The Sheraton as it could come to an end. For nine weeks in 2008 we took a 2/3 cut in pay just to keep the gig. It's really a special gig....ask Paul Johnson or, more recently Ted from The Detonators....besides the $ it's just an unbelievable venue....but again, with enough notice we could come over there. We need an "event" kind of high paying convention or wedding or....? to get us all over there then we could do some shows for free or whatever. It's not at all about making $ for us as long as we're fed and housed.
Linda, thank you sooooo much for your gracious comments. You are truely the "Queen" of surf music. I see you in the photos sitting over there on the side soaking it all up at close range!!!
Back to back "brother" surf bands...has kind of a nice ring to it.....i've said it before here....coming to California to play at the museum or pier is what keeps us going...it has always been our goal and it will continue to be so....we'll be there someday. WE WILL MAKE IT WORK!!!!
Rick...thanks for not making me eat grass now that you could easily kik my arse!!!!
Aloha surf dogs,
R-R
