Welcome to the new SurfGuitar101.com! This format was launched on February 25, 2006.
This site combines my love for all things computer geekery and my other passion: instrumental surf music. I hope this site is useful for both surf fans and musicians, as it offers the following:
- Users can submit news, show announcements, show reports, reviews, etc. These stories can then be ranked and commented on by others. These stories are then archived on this site.
- Web based forum area to discuss all things related to surf music.
- A database of useful links.
- Surf music FAQ's.
- Photos of surf bands in action.
- An event calendar so people can quickly see what shows are coming up.

Wadadli Riders w/ Daddy-O Grande USA Tour 2008 | Note, this info was culled from various sources in our forums and by consulting with The Wadadli Riders site.
The Wadadli Riders will be coming to California, with their first show at the Hotel Utah next Sunday afternoon. The band is led by Lorenzo Valdambrini, the webmaster behind the site surferjoemusic.com and the organizer of the recent festival in Italy. The rhythm guitarist had to cancel from the tour, but he will be replaced by Los Straitjacket's Daddy-O Grande. The Wadadli's set list will expand to include some Los Straitjackets material, as well as songs from Daddy-O Grande's solo album.

Forty Years Of The Fender Stratocaster |  This item was submitted by Ron-Rhoades.
Last night at our show at The Sheraton Kauai Resort a guy and his daughter come wandering up to us and he asks "do you guys know Mr. Moto?" Yeah, we sure do...wanna hear it? and he nods yes and so we busted in to Mr. Moto which brought a huge smile to his face as he sat on the steps leading up to the restaurant where we play outside near the beach in Poipu. He sat and listened for the whole set and when we took our break he came up to me and started asking questions about surf music, my unusual guitar, and equipment and stuff like that and then mentioned that he used to play with Dick Dale back in the 80's. I'm like wow, you played with Dick Dale? and we started talking about DD having cancer and i told him we invited him to sit in with us when he comes to Hawaii after all his medical stuff is finished next year and he started reminiscing about playing with DD and surf music and equipment in general.

Laika & The Cosmonauts Farewell Dates | | As we reported in this story, the Finnish legends Laika & The Cosmonauts are putting on a final tour and then calling it a day. The North American part of their tour begins in mid-October, and you can check out the dates on their gig page. Note that many of the shows will have amazing supporting acts like Los Straitjackets, Pollo del Mar, and Tiesco del Rey. Keep your eye on the two to-be announced shows in Southern California also. Don't miss your chance to see one of the highest regarded instrumental bands of today!
