Thanks Rev.
Kim's guitar playing knocked me out, was so original and unique.
Growing up just across the border and being a young rocker........
I HAD to dig them.

Cool

Kim is an amazing player indeed. Max was my doorway to Rush and Zappa. I've seen him live several times and am always blown away by his playing and showmanship (toned down since Max Websters days, but still on point). I was one of 2 kids in my rural NS town that even knew they existed. The other was my cousin who I made listen to the band until he became a fan. LOL.

Ha Ha, that's cool Rev.
Rush and Zappa came first for me through my sister who was also a bass player. One thing I liked about Max Webster was the way they blended harder rocking elements with interesting scales and melodies that evoked Zappa.
Yeah, when I first heard them they really turned my head.

Cheers,
Jeff

Untamed Youth: More Gone Gassers as a vinyl!! Just got my vinylplayer working again after 5 long years. Ortofon Reloop Concorde got the right type of needle to my Numark TT usb-turntable! LOVE IT!

Twang & Bop til You Drop!

Rev & Crazy. How about (Buzz Sherman) Moxy or Goddo. Two great canadian rock bands! Your posts on Max Webster reminded me of the bands back in the day. Now I have to go and dig out the vinyl.... Wink

I am not obsolete, I am RETRO.... Cool

Hey Teisco Fan,

Goddo is another one of my all time faves. I've seen them several times, hung out with them once in Montreal (where I was one of 3 people watching them at a club). They are really funny guys, and back togethet again.

The coolest concert I went to was in Hamilton a couple of years ago featured Goddo, Teenage Head, and Kim Mitchell. My inner teenager was rockin out like you wouldn't believe! Live, Best Seat in the House was my first Goddo album.

I never really listened to Moxy (not much acces to them in rural NS I suppose).

Used to see Goddo regularily and Teenage Head regularily on the bar circuit in Toronto. Buddy of mine was a Goddo fanatic so lots of venues... Goddo is a personal fav of mine too!
Check out Moxy doing "Sail on sail away" or Cant you see Im a star" ....amazing tunes. Moxy also had Mike Reno in the band who went on to Loverboy.

I am not obsolete, I am RETRO.... Cool

Of course.

Insect Surfers
The Tikiyaki Orchestra
The Scimitars
Lords Of Atlantis
Fiberglass Jungle - Surf Radio

Saw the indie-rock fest 'Burgerama' (day 2 Sunday 3/29/yesterday..not 1st day)..lotsa lotsa music, saw songs and sets by (ready?) King Khan, White Fence, J.Mascis solo, Black Lips, Witch(w/J.Mascis on drums),Ariel Pink(w/ Don Bolles on drums),Dengue Fever,Curtis Harding, Cotillion, Froth, AquaDolls,The Queers, The Meatbodies,Shannon and the Clams, Tennis, and Ty Segall.....whew! Big day/night down in Orange County! Closest thing to anything surfy was prolly Dengue Fever, some definite twang lines woven into their Cambodian-gal-fronted band ( i put them on an Acid Beach Party bill with us years ago).

Insect surfer.... out of curiosity where "The Queers" the original wave of punk band from Canada?

I am not obsolete, I am RETRO.... Cool

Teiscofan, indeed it was the original hard-drivin' punkcore band from 'back in the day'! And oh my god were they tight, definitely one of the best bands there !

The Orbitrons (Orbitron) on Australian surf/rock radio... followed by The Delstars (Ride the Wild Tube).

While I haven't listened to the song in months, nor the band itself. I have Interpol's The Heimlich Maneuver stuck in my head something fierce. That track has a Jag on it, so surf music... And they mentioned the West Coast, so surf music...

Portishead P3.
Oh! New to me. Very moody. Very pathetic. Very mighty. Uiuiui!
Still sounds like they are not from this planet! I believe.
Smile

Twang cheers!

Now Johann Sebastian Bach`s "Well-tempered clavier". A recording by Sviatoslav Richter.
Oh, this is not bad!
Bach was definitely not from this planet too.
I believe.

Twang cheers!
