crumble: Tubes? Oh, of course you mean valves!

bigtikidude: Valves are the round metal ports that let fuel and air into and out of the combustion chamber of a engine with cylinders. Wink

josheboy: DON'T BELIEVE THIS SOLID-STATE PROPGANDA! DO NOT LISTEN TO THE LIES OF THE ENEMY! GIVE ME TUBES OR GIVE ME DEAF!!!

bigtikidude: slow day on the old net

Brian: So frustrating when 60's musicians sign up and don't stick around. Seems very common.

Louie7: Stop shouting. *L*

bigtikidude: also frustrating to have thousands of members yet hardly nobody posting on the forum,.

zzero: hey josheboy--it's not propaganda, some few folks actually prefer solidstate--if i could get a nice 100 watt 2-12 amerrican made tube amp for 300-400 bucks i would buy one. where are they???

zzero: i see less and less posts on other guitar forums too.. what's up with that??

PrestonRice: Well, I mean, if you would have a tube amp instead if you could afford it, then it would seem you don't really prefer solid state, you just find them to be a better value in general...

My Record Store Day haul. Feels like the weakest year yet, the UK got all of the good stuff this year.

St. Vincent - Cruel : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3-_aurNiic

Awesome, great fuzz.

And her 4AD session: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jv4lgFrL7U&hd=1

I heard great things about her second album several years back so I bought it without hearing anything, then I saw her in a promo photo holding a ukulele so I never listened to the record thinking her to be some awful "ukulele is so cool" hipster band. I bought a single of hers at Record Store Day on Saturday and it was fuzzed out to all hell, went back and listened to her stuff, really great. Album stuff is a bit cleaner than her live stuff, but just good song writing all around.

Steely Dan is a really horrible band.

isn't it sad how such great musicians can make such horrible crap.

I'm a huge Steely Dan fan but I haven't met many who share my enthusiasm, hah. Today's drive-time music was a borrowed copy of Smashing Pumpkins' seminal "Melon Collie And The Infinite Sadness." Really good 90s record, if you're into that sort of thing...currently checking out Clint's podcast and loving what I'm hearing!

The Sadies - Tales of the Ratfink

I'd never heard this. Great stuff.

LOVE that soundtrack, and The Sadies too.

OM - Good is Good

OM is Al Cisneros from Sleep and Emil Amos of Grails playing some rhythmic drony crazy stuff. Drums and bass, with some atmospheric sounds. Most excellent.

Gonna check it out later based on the cover art alone, hahaha.
