Thanks Eddie. Not that I can afford to collect the originals, but the catalogs are extremely useful.

Wouldn't a screw up like this be sort of traditional in surf recordings? The Del-Fi touch?

Just thought I'd revive this thread because the whole "Cecilia Ann" controversy is fascinating. It's wonderful proof that in our modern times, it's still possible to write a truly authentic 'trad' style tune.

I think its funny how many bands have covered it,
thinking it was a 60s song.
I bet if they knew it was written in the late 80s,
they wouldn't have done it.

There's only ONE thing I know fer' sure about either "Surf Legends & Rumours" or "It Came From the Beach". The master of "Pipeline" is actually used here. After speaking w/Bob Spickard in '96 or ''97....he stated that they gave DOT records a DUB of the original master of "Pipeline" in 1962 for their DOT 45 release. I know it's only "one generation" but still..... Also, the original "Move It" tape had water damage & the "warble" can be heard on all the subsequent MCA, & Universal CD reissues. Even the Japanese "Best of The Chantays" vinyl 33 1/3 LP has it warbled. (You can hear the "unwarbled" version on the original 45 or "2 Sides Of the Chantays" LP).

Just finished the chapter in the Ken Crowley book on Wipeout the recording session.

I just want to make my claim that I was on the recording at the ripe old age of 3 or 4 yrs of age Wink
