The Madeira Sonic Cataclysm Live Just got this; it's an excellent CD. All the energy of their live performance and a great selection of songs. Even the covers are special. —Paul |

Jeff, I prefer the Jeff Buckley version. A garage cover would work with the vibe of the song. |

Got these two a while back from my wish list. Great to hear the rest of El Ray's "Chasing Ray" after hearing Cherry Cheeks on the Brave New Surf comp. Still of my fave surf instros and I paid a fortune on Amazon for my first Surf Coasters album "Samurai Struck" WOW!! What a band!! I distinctly remember my jaw hitting the floor when track 3 Bumble Bee blasted through the speakers. Great album with a stack of live tracks to round it off Got some mail to open from Double Crown, Deep Eddy and Surfer Joe to keep me out of trouble for a while too —beachbreak a.k.a Sean Last edited: Oct 05, 2014 21:47:30 |

Just picked up The Golden Breed soundtrack from Sundazed. Davie Allan is featured on this release along with Mike Curb's regular cast of characters. The lp features a mix of 1960s easy listening vocals (title track), marimba and horn instros, and some keen reverbed guitar playing from Davie. No fuzz on this one. Not trad surf, but I like it. I've been getting to know this album for the past few days, and I gotta say that the more I hear it, the more I love it! An absolutely brilliant piece of work! The Bang! Mustang full-length debut was one of my favorites a few years ago, but I think this one is even better. Too many highlights to list. Impressive songwriting and playing, and just GREAT surf music! Highly recommended! Another excellent album! Jari has the whole eleki style and sound DOWN, absolutely nails it (though minus some of the eleki histrionics - Jari always plays it tasteful). The band is fantastic, too, really gets the feel and sound of eleki surf. If you love Yuzo Kayama, this is the CD for you! My favorites: Golden Gambler, Gasping Runner, Space Glider and Flow Waves. After Stormy Weather is a really cool dark ballad, too. I must admit I could have done without another cover of Penetration or Take On Me; and Cindy Lauper's "She Bop" is so-so - it's just not a very strong song, though the Shockwave! do their level best with it. Outside of that gripe, the rest of the CD is just great - stick to the originals in the future, fellas! And truly well-done! I accidentally left this one in Dane's car before I even had a chance to listen to it - doh! Gotta wait another 3+ weeks to finally check it out... ugh... —Ivan |

I just got SURF! SURF! SURF! by you all know who. Hey, I've wandered in the desert for many years- I'll never catch up. BTW- Just scored a copy of Songs in the Key of Z, an overview of Outsider music. Has 'Standing in a Trashcan Thinking of You' by the Legendary Stardust Cowboy which is worth the $2 I paid right there. Sometimes.... lyrics ARE important. —Da Vinci Flinglestein, The Syndicate of Surf on YouTube |

That's the one... on nice colored vinyl. Dig the 'Khamisu Khan' tune, kinda hypnotic for me. Some co-production between Green Cookie & Dawn Patrol Records. Cheers, |
